Now, I, WILLOUGHBY SHORTLAND, Esq., the
Officer administering the Government of the
Colony of New Zealand aforesaid, do proclaim
and declare this Her Majesty's pleasure, and
that I have this day assumed the powers and
authority vested in me thereby.

Given under my Hand and Seal, at Auckland,
this fourteenth day of September, in the year
of Our Lord one thousand eight hundred
and forty-two.

PROCLAMATION.

By His Excellency WILLOUGHBY SHORT-
LAND, Esq., the Officer administering
the Government of Her Majesty's Colony
of New Zealand, and its Dependencies,
and Vice Admiral of the same, &c., &c.

WHEREAS by an Ordinance enacted by
the Governor of New Zealand, with the
advice and consent of the Legislative Council,
Session 2, No. 2, entitled "An Ordinance for
establishing County Courts of Civil and Criminal
Jurisdiction, and for repealing an Ordinance for
instituting Courts of Requests, Session 1, No 6,
and for repealing part of an Ordinance for
establishing Courts of Quarter Sessions, Session
1, No. 4." It is enacted that His Excellency
the GOVERNOR, with the advice of the Executive
Council, shall from time to time appoint a place
or places, within each County or District, as the
case may be, whereat County Courts of Civil
and Criminal Jurisdiction shall be holden.
Now, I, the Officer administering the Govern-
ment, with the advice of the Executive Council,
do hereby direct and appoint, that for the pur-
poses of the said in part recited Ordinance,
the Islands of "New Munster" and "New
Leinster," with the Islands adjacent, shall form
a District, to be called the District of Nelson.
And I do hereby, with the like advice, direct
and appoint that a County Court of Civil and

Criminal Jurisdiction shall be holden monthly
at Nelson, in the said District of Nelson. And
that the first sitting of the said Court, shall be
holden on the third Tuesday in the month of
January, 1843.

Given under my Hand and Seal, at Auckland,
this fourteenth day of September, in the
year of Our Lord one thousand eight hun-
dred and forty-two.

the Public Accounts of the Colony.

TWO POUNDS REWARD.

Colonial Secretary's Office,
Auckland, 20th September, 1842.

THE POUND in Auckland having on
the night of the 7th instant been
broken into by some person or persons un-
known, and a number of goats impounded
under the Provisions of the Ordinance of Coun-
cil, 5th Vic., Sess. II, No. 16, liberated there-
from; His Excellency the Officer adminis ering
the Government has been pleased to direct that
the above reward should be given to any person
who may afford such information, as may lead
to the conviction of the party or parties so of-
fending.
