SALE OF CROWN LANDS.

Commissioner of Crown Lands Office,
Akaroa, August 10th, 1852.

NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN, that the Sale of Crown Lands in the Middle District of the Middle Island being resumed under the Regulations on that subject laid down in the 13th chapter of the Royal Instructions relating thereto, the Commissioner is now prepared to receive applications for the purchase of Rural Land in any part of it, except for the lands reserved for Town and Suburban Sections (the former of quarter acres each, and the latter from 10 to 50 acres each) at Kaikora, around Motunau, North Bank of the Waipara River, and Timaru, applications for which will also be received; but they can only, for the present, be attended to should the Commissioner consider that the necessary Surveys can be made without incurring more expense than the amounts required to be purchased would justify. At Kaikora and Timaru, the extents reserved for the above-mentioned purposes are now limited to tracts along the Beach five miles in length by one in depth.

The Government Regulations respecting Timber Licenses are again in force in the District.

JAMES CAMPBELL,
Commissioner of Crown Lands.

If an applicant for a Run has failed in placing the number of Sheep and Cattle he proposed upon it, satisfactory reasons must be given to the Commissioner for the failure.
