HIS EXCELLENCY THE LIEUTENANT GOVERNOR has been pleased to direct it to be notified for general information, that a Metropolitan Police Station has been established in the house at Kumutoto, lately occupied by the native chief “E Tako,” and that Police Constables may there be found, and charges received at any hour of the day or night.

HIS EXCELLENCY THE LIEUTENANT GOVERNOR has been pleased to direct the notification, for the information of the Public, of the establishment of a Weekly Overland Mail between Wellington and Wanganui, which will for the future leave each of these places at daylight on every Tuesday morning.

No Newspapers or Parcels can be transmitted by this Mail—but Letters solely.

HIS EXCELLENCY THE LIEUTENANT GOVERNOR has been pleased to approve the undermentioned change in “The Wellington Armed Police Force”:

E Tapa—a Native of Uruhi—to be a Private vice Samuel E Tako—whose period of service expired on the 19th October, 1847.
Isaac Wilson—to be a Private vice William Mason—discharged on the 23rd October, for being drunk on duty.
Samuel Barrett—to be a Private vice William Hazlett—dismissed on the 31st October, for disobedience of orders and disrespectful conduct.

NATIVE HOSPITAL.

TENDERS will be received at this Office on or before Saturday, the 27th instant, from persons desirous of contracting for the whole or any portion of the undermentioned works required to be executed at the Native Hospital, Wellington, namely:—

A Dead House
Privy
Excavation around the Building
Painting the exterior Wood-work
Two Fences and Gates for Stone Room

Further particulars may be obtained on application to Dr. Fitzgerald, at the Hospital.

Tenders to be in Duplicate, Sealed and Endorsed, “Tenders for Additions to Native Hospital.”
