BYE-LAWS FOR THE SUBURBAN NORTH
ROAD BOARD.
-
The occupiers, or in case there shall be no
occupiers, then the owners of any land upon
which a gorse or other hedge shall be grow-
ing, adjoining any public road, shall, so soon
as the portion of the said road adjoining his
said land shall be clear, thenceforward keep
the same at all times clear of gorse or other
obstruction which it may reasonably be sup-
posed have proceeded from the said hedge;
and in case such occupier or owner, as the
case may be, shall refuse or neglect to clean
such road, after receiving fourteen days
notice in writing to do so from the Road
Board, he shall be liable to a penalty of not
exceeding Forty shillings. -
The owners of any horse, mule, ass, sheep,
swine, or any other beast or cattle of any
kind, which shall, at any time after this
Bye-law shall come into operation, be found
depasturing in or upon any fenced or formed
road, or the sides, or any ditch or bank
thereof, within the limits of the Suburban
North Road Board, whether under the
tendence or control of any person or not, and
thereby causing any damage to such road,
ditch, bank, or fence, shall be liable to a fine
for each animal so depasturing, and causing
any damage as aforesaid, of not more than
Ten shillings: provided always that the
amount of such penalty shall not exceed
Forty shillings.

RULES OF THE GREY DISTRICT
ACCLIMATISATION SOCIETY.
[The term District shall mean the Electoral District of
the Grey Valley.]
OBJECTS OF THE SOCIETY.
- The objects of the Society shall be the Introduc-
tion, Acclimatisation, and Domestication of all Innoxious
Animals, Birds, Fishes, Insects, and Vegetables,
whether useful or ornamental; the perfection, propa-
gation, and hybridisation of species newly introduced,
or already domesticated; the spread of indigenous
animals, &c., from parts of the colony where they are
already known, to other localities where they are not
known; the procuring, whether by purchase, gift, or
exchange of animals, &c., from Great Britain, the
British Colonies, and Foreign Countries; the trans-
mission of animals, &c., from the Colony to England
and foreign parts, in exchange for others sent to the
Society; the holding of periodical meetings, and the
