diently communicated by me to the Colonial Govern-
ment, and I rely upon the merits of the proposal as an
essential means of colonisation in this Province, and as
one important link in the chain of communication
hroughout the Middle Island, to recommend it to the
support of the Colonial Government and Legislature.
The various other matters upon which you have
requested action on my part or upon which you have
expressed an opinion, shall receive my earliest atten-
tion, with the desire to carry out your wishes in the
most effective manner.
I now declare this Council prorogued.

PROCLAMATION.
By his Honor Oswald Curtis, Superintendent of
the Province of Nelson, in the Islands of New
Zealand, &c., &c.
WHEREAS by an Act passed by the Superin-
tendent and Provincial Council of the Province
of Nelson, intituled "The Nelson Highways Act,
1872," it is amongst other things enacted that for the
purpose of electing Members of the Board for any
district, it shall be lawful for the Superintendent from
time to time, if he shall think fit by proclamation in
the Government Gazette, to divide any district or
districts into sub-districts, and to apportion the number
of members for the whole district between such sub-
districts as he shall think proper. And whereas a
certain district has been constituted under the said
Act, called the Pangatotara District.
Now, therefore, I, the Superintendent of the
Province of Nelson, pursuant to and in exercise of the
power and authority vested in me in that behalf by the
said recited Act, do hereby proclaim and declare that
the said district shall be divided into the following
sub-districts, that is to say:—
- Pangatotara.
- Nga Timoti.
- Oronoko.
The boundaries of such sub-districts shall be as
follows:—
- Pangatotara.
On the North by the Riwaka Road Board dis-
trict; on the East by the Motueka Road dis-
trict; on the South by a line commencing at the division line between
sections 43 and 44, square 3, and continuing
in a straight line westward along the northern
boundary of section 25; thence by the north-
eastern angle of section 14, 64, 63, and through
21 to the river Motueka; thence across the
river and along its western bank to the north-
eastern angle of section 10; thence to the
southern angle of section 9 by the north-
eastern boundary of sections 27, 55, 90, and
95; thence by a straight line due west to the
boundary of the Pangatotara Road Board
district.
- Nga Timoti.
On the North by the Pangatotara sub-district;
West by the Karamea river; South by the Upper
Motueka Road Board district; on the East by
a line commencing at the western angle of
section 63, square 3, to the north-
eastern boundary of section 25; thence by the north-
western angle of section 23, 101 to the
western boundary of sections 101, 106 &c.
to the eastern boundary of section 78; thence
by the eastern boundary of sections 78, 69
and 85, to the river Dove; thence by the
river Dove to its junction with the Motueka
river, and by the Motueka river to the
boundary of the Upper Motueka district.
- Oronoko.
On the North partly by the Pangatotara sub-
district, and partly by the Nga Timoti sub-
districts on the East partly by the Motueka
Road Board district, and partly by the
Moutere Road district; on the South by the
Waimea and Upper Motueka Road districts;
and on the West by the Nga Timoti sub-
district.
And each such sub-district shall elect two members
of the Board for the District.
Given under my hand, and issued under the
Public Seal of the Province, at Nelson, this
Sixteenth day of June, in the year of Our Lord
One thousand eight hundred and seventy-
three.
