NOTICE is hereby given, in accordance with the
Provisions of the Gold-Mining Lease Regulations, that the under-mentioned Gold-Mining Leases
are declared forfeited, viz:—

  1. Lease dated 1st July, 1870, to JOHN
    M'HERRON, of Three Acres and Twenty-
    eight Perches, adjoining Constant Bay,
    Charleston.

  2. Lease dated 1st October, 1870, to JAMES
    HICKEY and MICHAEL SMITH, of Three
    Acres Two Roods and Twenty-six Perches,
    White Horse Terrace, Charleston.

IT is hereby notified, that it is intended, after
the expiration of Two Months from the date hereof,
to grant Leases for Gold-Mining Purposes of the
Crown Land within the District of the Nelson South-
west Goldfields, hereinafter described, viz:—

  1. A Block of Land, containing Four Acres, more
    or less, situated at Waite's Pakihis, Buller
    District. Applied for by MICHAEL CON-
    NOLLY and others.

  2. A Block of Land, containing Six Acres and
    Thirty Perches, more or less, situated at
    Hatter's Terrace, Buller District. Applied
    for by JAMES M'GOWAN.

  3. A Block of Land, containing Ten Acres, more
    or less, situated at Bald Terrace, near the
    Caledonian, Buller District. Applied for
    by HUGH M'MASTERS.

hereof, to grant Leases for Gold-mining Purposes of
the Crown Land within the District of the Nelson
South-west Goldfields, hereinafter described, viz:—

  1. A Block of Land, containing Three Acres
    Three Roods and Thirty-nine Perches, more
    or less, situated at Charleston. Applied for
    by ALEXANDER M'MULLEN.

  2. A Block of Land, containing Seven Acres One
    One Rood and Twenty-two Perches, more or
    less, situated at Charleston. Applied for
    by THOMAS BELLWOOD and others.

  3. A Block of Land, containing Two Acres
    Three Roods and Thirty-seven Perches, more
    or less, situated at Charleston. Applied for
    by CHARLES GORDON.

Crown Land within the District of the Golden
Goldfields, hereinafter described, viz:—

  1. A Block of Land, containing Sixteen
    Acres Two Roods and Four Perches,
    or less, situated at Red Hill, Lightband
    Gully Road, Collingwood. Applied for
    JOHN ROSS.

  2. A Block of Land, containing Two Acres,
    more or less, situated at the Quartz Ranges,
    Collingwood. Applied for by WALTER
    SHAW and others.

  3. A Block of Land, containing One Acre Two
    Roods and Eight Perches, more or less,
    situated at the Quartz Ranges, Collingwood.
    Applied for by GEORGE MASTERS.

PROTECTION is hereby granted, under the Pro-
visions of "The Goldfields Act, 1866," to
MAUNDER LANGDON, for the term of Four years from
the date hereof, for a PUNT FERRY across the Buller
river, near the telegraph line, subject to the following
conditions:—

  1. That a substantial Punt, capable of carrying
    Twelve tons, be placed on the river, in good
    working order, within Two Months from
    this date, and maintained in good working
    order during the term of this protection.

  2. That competent Ferrymen be always in attendance, and the Ferry conducted, at all times,
    to the satisfaction of the Warden of the
    district.

  3. That the Punt wire, or apparatus required
    for working the Punt, shall not interfere
    with shipping or with the navigation of the
    river.

  4. This protection shall not extend beyond two
    miles from the mouth of the River Buller,
    and shall not interfere with, or prevent any
    Boats plying for hire on any part of the
    river.

  5. That the Tolls to be charged for the use of
    the Punt shall not exceed the following, viz:—

    satisfied that the Ferry is not conducted in an efficient manner, and in accordance
