IT is hereby notified for general information that in consequence of the death of JOHN PERRY ROBINSON, Esquire, Superintendent of this Province, all acts and powers conferred by the "Superintendent's Deputy Act, 1856," will from this date be preformed and exercised by
JOHN WALLIS BARNICOAT, Esquire,
Speaker of the Provincial Council.

IT is hereby notified for general information that the undermentioned By-Law, passed by the Nelson Board of Works, was confirmed by the Superintendent and Executive Council, in accordance with the Provisions of the "Nelson Improvement Amendment Act, 1858," on the Sixteenth day of January last.

BY-LAW, No. 6.
WHEREAS, by the "Nelson Improvement Amendment Act," Session V., No. 2, power is given to the Board of Works to make such rules, by-laws, and regulations as may be necessary and expedient. Be it, therefore, ordered and directed by the said Board, with the sanction of his Honor the Superintendent and his Executive Council, as follows, viz.:β
Any person shall be liable to a penalty of not more than Forty shillings who shall commit any of the following offences, within the city of Nelson, that is to say:β
1st. Every person who shall lead, ride, or drive any horse, ass, mule, or cattle over or across any public bridge intended for foot passengers only.
2nd. Every person who shall lead, ride, or drive, any horse, ass, mule, or cattle upon any public footpath except for the purpose of crossing such footpath, when the same is formed and distinguished from the roadway.
