Land Reserves for Public Works




No. 1842 (in red)—Springs Road District—All that tract of land three
chains wide, containing by admeasurement eighty acres (more or
less), the centre line of which commences at a point on the north-east
boundary of section 4978, situate
thirty-five and a-half chains from the
north-eastern corner thereof; thence
following a straight line in a northerly
direction through the intersection of
the Tramway Reserve by the road
forming the north-west boundary of
section 10819, until it meets the
south-west boundary of section No.
7397.—For a line of a railway in
connection with the Rolleston and
Leeston Line.

No. 1871 (in red).—Ashburton, Temuka,
and Geraldine Road Districts—All
that tract of land one mile wide, the
centre line of which commences at
the southernmost corner of section
No. 4529, on the South Road and
Railway Reserve, and runs in a
southerly direction until it meets the
north-west corner of section No.
3163, situate on the south bank of
the Orari river, and more particularly
delineated and described on the maps
of the Chief Surveyor, setting out
and describing the lands in the As-
burton and Timaru districts;
save and except the land purchased and
finally reserved to date.—For a line
of railway.

No. 1881 (in red).—Ashburton
and Geraldine Road Districts—All that
tract of land half-a-mile wide, situate
in the Ashburton and Timaru districts,
extending from the south
bank of the Hinds to the south
bank of the river Orari, west of and
adjoining Reserve No. 1371 (in red);
save and except the land purchased
and finally reserved to date.—For a
line of railway.

No. 1888 (in red).—South Malvern Road
District—Fifty-two acres, situate in
the Malvern district, bounded on the
south-eastward by section 12371;
on the north-eastward by section
14769; and also by the road forming
the south-west boundary of section
No. 828; and on the south-westward
by the river Wakaepa.—For a gravel
pit.

No. 1466 (in red).—South Rakaia Road
District—One hundred and forty
acres, situate in the Ashburton district, commencing at a point on the
north-western boundary of land formerly Reserve No. 317 (in red), but
now abandoned, the said point being
the southernmost corner of section
7130; thence south-westerly following the said north-western boundary
a distance of forty chains, and extending south-easterly a distance of
forty chains in a rectangular block,
subject, nevertheless, to the South
Road, and also to the Railway Reserve
No. 1450 (in red), three chains wide,
passing through the above-described
land, for which road and reserve
allowance has been made in the
acreage.—For railway purposes.

No. 1467 (in red).—South Rakaia and
Ashburton Road Districts—Two
hundred and ninety-six acres, situate
in the Ashburton district, being part
of former reserve No. 317 (in red),
but now abandoned; bounded on the
north-west by the north-western
boundary of said reserve; on the
south-east by the south-eastern
boundary of the same reserve; on
the north-east by a line at right
angles to the north-western boundary,
passing through the Eleventh
Mile Peg as measured from the river
Rakaia, on Reserve No. 1450 (in
red); and on the south-west by a line
parallel to the north-eastern boundary,
and distant therefrom 80 chains.
Subject, nevertheless, to the above-mentioned Reserve No. 1450 (in
red), passing through the above-described land, for which reserve
allowance has been made in the
acreage.—For railway purposes.

No. 1474 (in red).—Ashburton Road
District—Six hundred and forty-six
acres, situate in the Ashburton district, bounded on the north-westward
by Reserve 350 (in red); on the
south-westward by a line in continuation of the south-western
boundary of that reserve; on the
north-eastward by a line in continuation of the north-eastern boundary of the same; and on the south-eastward by the South Road and
Railway Reserve (save and except
the land purchased to date).—For
road, railway, and telegraph purposes.

No. 1496 (in red).—Ashburton Road
District—One hundred and forty-seven acres, situate in the Ashburton
district, having frontage of 40
chains on the south-eastern side of
the South Road and Railway Reserve,
and extending south-easterly 40
chains in a rectangular block, the
westernmost corner being 44 chains
north-east of the junction of the
above-mentioned reserves with the
road north-east of reserve 1261 (in
red), subject to railway reserve 1450
(in red) passing through the above-described land, for which reserve
allowance has been made in the
acreage.—For railway purposes.

No. 1497 (in red).—Ashburton Road
District—One hundred and forty-seven acres, situate in the Ashburton
district, having 40 chains frontage
on the south-eastern side of the
South Road, and extending south-
