SCHEDULE C.

CITY OF CHRISTCHURCH.

By-Law No. 1, Clause 5.

Hackney Carriage or Borough Stage Carriage Licence.

No. To carry Passengers.

City of Christchurch to Wit:

Whereas has made a requisition for a licence for a carriage to ply for hire within the City of Christchurch and its vicinity pursuant to the provisions of “By-law No. 1 Hackney Carriages, and Borough Stage Carriages.” And whereas the issue of the said licence has been duly authorised by the said Council: Now therefore I the Town Clerk of the said city in the name and on behalf of the said City Council do hereby license the said carriage of which you the said are the owner and which is numbered as a carriage to ply for hire and to carry passengers within the said city and within the distance of ten miles from the Post-office under and subject to the provisions of the said By-Law No. 1 and to such other orders rules regulations and By-laws as may from time to time be in force until the thirty-first day of December one thousand eight hundred and and no longer.

Given under my hand at the office of the City Council this day of 18_____.

Note.—In case of any owner as a driver of his own vehicle meeting with an accident he will be allowed to employ a competent driver for a period not exceeding twenty-four hours who may not have received a licence Notice of the same to be given during the day to the Town Clerk.


SCHEDULE D.

City of Christchurch.

By-Law No. 1. Clause 5.

Hackney Carriage or Borough Stage Carriage Driver’s or Conductor’s Licence.

No. _____

This Licence to be kept by the Driver or Conductor and to be produced when required to any person hiring or using the Carriage to the Inspector of Hackney Carriages or to any Police Constable.

City of Christchurch to Wit:

Whereas has made a requisition as the of a Carriage licensed to ply for hire within the City of Christchurch and its vicinity pursuant to the provisions of “By-Law No. 1 Hackney Carriages and Borough Stage Carriages.” And whereas the issue of the said Licence has been duly authorised by the said Council: Now therefore I the Town Clerk of the said city in the name and on behalf of the said Council do hereby license you the said to act as of any Carriage plying for hire within the said City of Christchurch and within the distance of ten miles from the Post Office under and subject to the provisions of the said By-Law No. 1 and to such other orders rules regulations and By-laws as may from time to time be in force until the thirty-first day of December one thousand eight hundred and and no longer.

SCHEDULE E.

City of Christchurch.

By-Law No. 1. Clause 12.

Whereas the Council of the City of Christchurch in accordance with the powers in it vested and in pursuance of the provisions of “By-Law No. 1 Hackney Carriages and Borough Stage Carriages” did cause carriage No. _____ and now used and let to hire and known by the following marks:

Description.

Build ____

Colour ____

Trimmings and Linings ____

And the horses and harness thereof to be inspected and find the _____ not to be in a fit and proper condition for public use Now therefore I the Town Clerk of the said City of Christchurch in the name and on behalf of the said Council do hereby suspend the license granted for and in respect of the said carriage from the date hereof until the said carriage with the horse or horses and all the appurtenances thereof shall upon further inspection by the said Council or by their Inspector of Hackney Carriages be found and deemed to be in all respects sufficient and fit for public use.

SCHEDULE F.

City of Christchurch.

Hackney and Borough Stage Carriages.

By-Law No. 1. Clauses 24, 32.

Table of Fares to be charged for any carriage plying for hire at any place within Ten Miles of the Post Office.

HACKNEY CARRIAGES.

One or two adults to be a full fare.

Fares by Time.

  1. For any time not exceeding one hour 4s.
  2. For every subsequent fifteen minutes or less ... 1s.
  3. In case of a carriage licensed to carry more than two passengers one fourth extra to be charged for each adult carried more than two.
  4. When the passenger is not set down at the place of hiring time is to be reckoned for returning at the rate of five miles an hour from the place of setting down.
