Superintendent of the said Province, in pursuance of the powers vested in me by the 27th section of the said before-recited Ordinance, and by and with the advice of the Executive Council do hereby alter the limits of the Duvauchelles Bay Educational District, and I do hereby proclaim the district as specified in the Schedule hereunto annexed to be a newly-constituted Educational District within the meaning of "The Education Ordinance, 1878."

SCHEDULE.

DUVAUCHELLES BAY EDUCATIONAL DISTRICT.

Bounded on the South by German Bay Educational District; on the West by Barry's Bay Educational District; on the North and East by the dividing range.

Given under my hand at Christchurch, this 30th day of October, one thousand eight hundred and seventy-four.

PROCLAMATION.

WHEREAS by an Act of the General Assembly of New Zealand, intituled "The Canterbury Temporary Mining Reserves Act, 1869," it is enacted that it shall be lawful for the Superintendent of Canterbury, by Proclamation, to temporarily reserve from sale any lands in which he shall have good reason to believe that precious metals exist: Provided that no such reservation shall continue in force beyond the end of the Session of the Provincial Council next after the issue of such Proclamation.

Now, therefore, I, WILLIAM ROLLESTON, Superintendent of the Province of Canterbury, in virtue of the powers enabling me in that behalf, do hereby temporarily reserve from sale the land described in the schedule hereto.

SCHEDULE.

Five hundred and thirty-six acres, more or less, situate in the Waitangi District, commencing on the southern boundary of the block of land (temporarily reserved by His Honor the Superintendent by Proclamation dated the 3rd ult., published in the New Zealand Government Gazette, Province of Canterbury, 3rd October, 1874) at a point thereon, situate about 80 chains west of the south-east corner thereof; thence by a line bearing 90Β° 80' (mag.), a distance of 46 chs. 20 lks., and extending north-easterly a distance of 138 chains, 60 lks., in a rectangular block, save and except a portion of the reserved land above referred to, which is included within the above-described boundaries.

PROCLAMATION.

WHEREAS by the eighth section of "The Canterbury Public Domains Act, 1872," it is enacted that the Superintendent of Canterbury, with the advice and consent of His Executive Council, may by Proclamation under his hand from time to time delegate all or any of the powers thereby conferred upon him acting as aforesaid to any person or persons for any period, and subject to such stipulations, conditions, and limitations as may be specified in such Proclamation; and every such delegation may from time to time in like manner alter or revoke; and whereas by a proclamation dated the 16th day of January, 1873, "The Canterbury Public Domains Board" was duly constituted, and whereas in consequence of the resignation of certain members of the said Board it is expedient to alter the said Proclamation:

Now, therefore, I, WILLIAM ROLLESTON, Superintendent of the Province of Canterbury, in pursuance of the powers vested in me, and by and with the advice and consent of my Executive Council, do hereby alter the said Proclamation, and I do hereby delegate, in respect of the lands contained in the Schedule to "The Canterbury Public Domains Act, 1872," all the powers conferred by the said Act to the undermentioned persons, who shall be known as "The Canterbury Public Domains Board," viz.:β€”

subject to the stipulations hereinafter contained.

  1. None of the powers delegated shall be exercised in respect of the ground occupied by the building known as the Canterbury Museum, or by any building pertaining thereto, which are or may hereafter be erected in connection therewith by authority of the Superintendent and Provincial Council, or to such enclosures in connection therewith as may be approved by the Board and the Provincial Government.

  2. The Trustees of the said Museum and their officers and servants shall at all times have the right of ingress and egress to and from the said Museum, and the public shall have the right of ingress and egress to and from the said Museum at such times as shall be determined by the said Trustees.

  3. The Board shall meet at such times and places as shall be from time to time appointed by the Chairman, or when it shall be convened by him; and the business shall be conducted under such regulations as shall be determined on by the Board.

  4. The Board shall keep proper minutes and records of its proceedings, and full accounts of its receipts and expenditure, and a yearly statement of the same, together with a general report of its proceedings, shall be forwarded to the Superintendent once in every year.
