PROCLAMATION.

WHEREAS by an Ordinance of the Superintendent and the Provincial Council of the Province of Canterbury intituled "The Canterbury Sheep Ordinance, 1872," it is enacted that it shall be lawful for sheep landed at the Port of Lyttelton to be driven to a distance not exceeding twenty miles from the port before being dressed as provided by the said Ordinance, if they shall be so driven for the purpose of being dressed at some place specially appointed for the purpose by the Superintendent by notice in the Provincial Government Gazette:

Now, therefore, I, WILLIAM ROLLESTON, Superintendent of the Province of Canterbury, do hereby, for the purpose aforesaid, proclaim and appoint the sheep dipping apparatus and enclosure erected by the Provincial Government at the Addington railway station, being a place within twenty miles from the said Port of Lyttelton to be a place to which sheep landed in Lyttelton may be driven to be dressed, in accordance with the terms of the thirty-first clause of the above-recited Ordinance.

NOTICE.

HIS HONOR the Superintendent directs it to be notified that any person bringing newly-landed sheep to be dipped at the Government Dip at the Addington Station, will be required to give at least twenty-four

hours' notice of his intention of so doing; and that every day for which such person shall delay to bring the sheep to be so dipped, after the time which shall have been appointed by him for so doing, he will be liable to a charge of two guineas.

It is also further notified that the Chief Inspector of Sheep has been authorised to make the following charges, viz. :

For any number of sheep under twenty, a sum of twenty shillings.
For twenty and up to one thousand, one shilling per head.
Above one thousand, sixpence per head.
