PROCLAMATION.

THE “Grey River Coal Company, Limited,” having applied, in accordance with “The Gold Fields Act, 1866,” for leave to construct a Tramway or Railway on and over the lands hereinafter mentioned, or some part of the same; (that is to say), all that parcel of land commencing at the eastern extremity of the portion of land reserved for Railway purposes through the Native Reserve No. 38; thence extending westerly in a direct line to the mouth of the Omotumotu Creek, and thence extending along the south bank of the River Grey to Mawhera Quay in the Town of Greymouth; subject to all freehold lands heretofore purchased from the Crown.

I, WILLIAM SEFTON MOORHOUSE, Superintendent of the Province of Canterbury, in pursuance of the powers delegated to me under the provisions of “The Gold Fields Act, 1866,” do hereby authorise the said Company to construct and use such Tramway or Railway in accordance with their application: And I do hereby permit the said Company to occupy the said lands, or such of them as I lawfully may give permission to occupy, for the construction and maintenance and use of such Tramway or Railway, for the period of seven years, or until the determination, before the expiration of the said period, of the lease granted by me, the Superintendent aforesaid, of the Grey River Coal Reserve to the Company aforesaid: And I declare that Tolls may be levied and Charges may be made by the said Company for the period aforesaid, for the use of the said Tramway or Railway when constructed, at rates not exceeding the sums mentioned in the Schedule hereto.
