Tenders and Sheep Import Returns




The penalties recoverable for non-performance of contract will be not exceeding double the amount of bonus for each trip not carried out according to contract. No penalties will be enforced where delay is caused by circumstances which can be proved to the satisfaction of the Provincial Government to be beyond the control of the Contractor.

Tenders for No. 2 service to state the maximum rate of freight at which passengers and goods will be carried. Contract to commence on the 1st July next, or such later date within one month as may be agreed upon, and to be terminable one year after commencement; after that time by three months’ notice on either side. The lowest or any Tender will not necessarily be accepted.

Tenders, marked “Tender for Canterbury Steam Service,” to be addressed to the Provincial Secretary, Canterbury, New Zealand, and to be forwarded so as to be delivered at the Secretary’s Office, Christchurch, not later than Monday, the 29th day of June next.

*DECLARATION.—I, George Rennie, of Auckland, do hereby solemnly declare that the sheep, 16 in number, marked G encircled, on board of the vessel Queen, Pole, Commander, now lying at Lyttelton, in the said Province, have not within three months last past had applied to any of them any reputed scab-destroying preparation, nor been mixed with any sheep infected with scab or catarrh, and I make this solemn declaration conscientiously believing the same to be true.

Declared before me, at Lyttelton, this 14th day of January, 1863.

Bird, of Wellington, do hereby solemnly declare that the sheep, 1000 in number, marked C N, on board of the vessel Prince Alfred, Wheeler, Commander, now lying at Lyttelton in the said Province, have not within three months last past had applied to any of them any reputed scab-destroying preparation, nor been mixed with any sheep infected with scab or catarrh, and I make this solemn declaration conscientiously believing the same to be true.

Declared before me at Lyttelton, this 8th day of February, 1863.

Declared before me at Lyttelton, this 19th day of March, 1863.
