NOTICE.—SUPREME COURT OF NEW
ZEALAND.

CANTERBURY DISTRICT.

In the matter of the "Debtors’ and Creditors’ Act, 1862," (Section 8.)

HIS Honor, HENRY BARNES GRESSON, Esquire, the Judge presiding in this Honourable Court, has appointed that the Court shall sit for the despatch of business accruing under the provisions of the above-mentioned Act, at the Court House, Christchurch, on Tuesday, the Fifteenth day of December next, at Eleven o’clock in the Forenoon.

In the matter of the "Debtors’ and Creditors’ Act, 1862," and in the matter of the Petition of James Jeffrey, formerly of Kaiapoi, in the Province of Canterbury, farmer; afterwards of the same place, in partnership with Charles Bailey, of Kaiapoi aforesaid, carrying on business as butchers, under the style or firm of "Jeffrey and Bailey;" and now of the same place, out of business, a debtor not in custody.

NOTICE is hereby given that the estate of the above-named James Jeffrey has been sequestered by an Order of the said Court made on the 19th November, 1863, and that the said Court has appointed Tuesday, the 15th December next, at Eleven o’clock in the Forenoon, at the Court-house, Christchurch, for the hearing of the above-mentioned petition.

THIS Nineteenth day of November, One thousand eight hundred and sixty-three, at a sitting of the said Court, pursuant to the said Act, upon the application of Mr. Travers of counsel for the said petitioners, and after reading the petition and affidavit of the said petitioners in this matter, filed on the 14th day of August last, the order made thereon on the said 14th day of August last, and the order as to a meeting of creditors made this day, the Court doth order that the hearing of the said petition shall be adjourned to Tuesday, the 15th day of December next, at Eleven o’clock in the Forenoon, at the Court-house, Christchurch aforesaid.

In the matter of the "Debtors’ and Creditors’ Act, 1862," and in the matter of the Estate of John Frederick Ballantyne, of the City of Christchurch, in the said District, accountant, a debtor, on the petition of the said debtor.

IN Chambers, this twenty-fourth day of November, 1863, upon the application of Mr. Harston, of counsel for the said petitioner, after reading the petition of such debtor as aforesaid, purporting to be signed by the said petitioner, and also an affidavit to the said Petition annexed and therewith filed on the nineteenth day of November instant, pursuant to the said Act, this Court, being satisfied of the truth of the matters contained in the petition, doth hereby grant an ad interim Order of Sequestration of the estate and effects of the said John Frederick Ballantyne, and direct that the same be taken and held by Frederick William Tirlee, of Christchurch aforesaid, accountant, as Receiver under the said Act hereby appointed by the Court. And the Court doth hereby

PURSUANT to an Order of the Supreme Court, made in this matter on the 16th day of November instant, notice is hereby given, that the further hearing of the petition in this matter is adjourned to Tuesday, the 15th day of December next, at Eleven o’clock in the Forenoon, at the Court-house, Christchurch aforesaid, and that the ad interim Order of Sequestration and Protection made on the 24th day of August last in this matter, is extended until further order.

And notice is hereby also given that a meeting of the creditors of the above-named petitioner will be held at the chambers of the undersigned, in Cathedral-square, in the City of Christchurch, on Saturday, the 5th day of December next, at Eleven o’clock.
