PUBLIC NOTICE.

Provincial Secretary’s Office,
Christchurch, 3rd June, 1862.

HIS Honor the Superintendent directs it to be notified for public information that, in pursuance of the powers vested in him by the Waste Lands Regulations, now in force within the Province of Canterbury, he has made the following Reserves of Land for the uses of the Provincial Government and for other public purposes, temporarily, until confirmation by the Provincial Council, viz.:

No. 223, in red.—50 acres, bounded on the west by 1771 and 271; on the north by Section 3800; on the east by 420, and a line in continuation of the western boundary of the said section; and on the south to the extent of 50 acres, subject to pre-emptive right 77.

No. 224, in red.—42 acres, more or less, on that sand-spit opposite the Shag Rock, bounded on the northward by Section 3954, and on the east, south and west by high-water mark.

All those Sections, situate in the town of Sefton, and numbered 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7 and 8 on the map of the Chief Surveyor, setting out and describing the town of Sefton aforesaid: Section No. 1 being situate in and fronting upon the Northern and Western Boulevards; No. 2 upon the Western Boulevard and Talfourd Street; Nos. 3, 5, and 7 upon the Northern Boulevard and Sections Nos. 4, 6 and 8 upon Talfourd Street.

THE Provincial Government is prepared to receive Tenders for the Supply of Building Stones, to be delivered at the Government Buildings, at Christchurch, viz.:

Hard flat walling stone, stacked upon the ground, at per cubic yard.
Grey stone in blocks, scabbled square in irregular sizes, minimum size 24 x 15 x 9, at per cubic foot.
Grit stone from Governor’s Bay, scabbled square in irregular sizes, minimum size 24 x 15 x 9, at per cubic foot.
Grey stone steps, not longer than 5 feet, 14 x 8, at per lineal foot.
Grey stone steps, not longer than 5 feet, 18 x 8, at per lineal foot.
50 tons of Amuri Limestone, quarried from the rock, at per ton.

Specification may be seen and further information obtained at the office of Messrs. Mountfort and Luck, Provincial Architects, Stone Buildings, Gloucester Street, Christchurch.

Tenders to be addressed to the Provincial Secretary’s office, by 12 o’clock on Tuesday, 17th June, endorsed “Tender for Stone.”

THE Executive Council meets every Tuesday, at 11 o’clock a.m., for the transaction of ordinary business; and all matters which persons may desire to bring under its consideration must be forwarded in writing to the Provincial Secretary’s Office on the Saturday previous to each meeting.

Provincial Secretary’s Office,
Christchurch, 16th June, 1862.

HIS Honor the Superintendent directs it to be notified that, at a meeting of the Executive Council, held at the Government Buildings, Christchurch, on Tuesday, the 10th of June inst., the first instalment of the Lyttelton and Christchurch Railway Loan Debentures, Nos. 1 to 500 inclusive, were duly cancelled and destroyed.

THE following General Regulations have been adopted, temporarily, for the Management of the Christchurch Hospital:—

MEDICAL OFFICERS.

The medical officers shall be two in number, a Physician and a Surgeon. They shall have general superintendence of the whole institution (under the inspection of His Honor the Superintendent, or some person appointed by him). They shall instruct the Steward, Matron, and Resident Dispenser in their duties. They shall have the entire direction of the diet, medicine, and general treatment of the patients. One at least of the medical officers shall visit the Hospital daily.

RESIDENT DISPENSER.

There shall be a Resident Dispenser, who shall dispense medicine, attend to emergencies, and carry out the instructions of the physician and surgeon.

STEWARD.

There shall be a Steward, who shall order all provisions of food, fuel, &c., which may be necessary. He shall keep regular accounts, which shall be audited once a month by the Provincial Auditor. He shall be responsible for the good order and discipline of the whole establishment, and shall see that the directions of the physician and surgeon are carried out. He shall have the authority of master over the nurses and servants, and shall be sworn in as a special constable. He shall not allow any provisions whatever or intoxicating liquors to be introduced into the Hospital by patients, nurses, or visitors.

MATRON.

There shall be a Matron, who shall have charge of the bedding, linen, and furniture, and shall be responsible to the Superintendent for their safe keeping. She shall have the authority of mistress over the nurses and servants, and shall take care that
