that behalf, Proclaim the Savings’ Bank at Lyttelton to come within the operation of an Ordinance of the Lieutenant-Governor, and Legislative Council of New Zealand, entitled "An Ordinance to provide for the management of Savings’ Banks," Sess. VIII, No. 4.

Given under my hand at Christchurch, this seventeenth day of January, in the year of Our Lord One Thousand Eight Hundred and Fifty-six, and sealed with the Public Seal of the Province.

HIS HONOR THE SUPERINTENDENT directs it to be notified for general information that a Writ for the election of a Member for the Akaroa District having been issued in accordance with clause 12 of an Act of Parliament passed in the 16th and 17th years of her present Majesty, entitled "An Act to grant a Representative Constitution to the Colony of New Zealand"—The Returning Officer for the said District has returned the said Writ with a certificate that the undermentioned gentleman has been duly elected to serve as a Member of the Provincial Council:

HIS EXCELLENCY THE GOVERNOR has been pleased to appoint C. A. Calvert, Esq., Barrister-at law, to be Deputy Registrar of the Supreme Court at Canterbury. This appointment to date from the 1st January, 1855.

TENDERS FOR PRINTING.
Provincial Secretary’s Office,
Jan. 12, 1856.

TENDERS for printing for the year commencing on the 1st of April next, will be received at this Office up to Saturday the 2nd February, at 12 o’clock.

Separate tenders must be made for:

  1. Printing Government Gazettes and Ordinances.
  2. Printing Official forms.
  3. Printing Drafts of bills and other occasional papers.

Separate Contracts will be made for each.

The Government or the Contractors will be at liberty to terminate the Contracts by three months’ notice on either side.
