HIS HONOR THE SUPERINTENDENT directs it to be notified for general information that a Writ for the election of a Member for the Akaroa District having been issued in accordance with clause 12 of an Act of Parliament passed in the 16th and 17th years of her present Majesty, entitled "An Act to grant a Representative Constitution to the Colony of New Zealand"—The Returning Officer for the said District has returned the said Writ with a certificate that the undermentioned gentleman has been duly elected to serve as a Member of the Provincial Council:

HIS EXCELLENCY THE GOVERNOR has been pleased to appoint C. A. Calvert, Esq., Barrister-at law, to be Deputy Registrar of the Supreme Court at Canterbury. This appointment to date from the 1st January, 1855.

TENDERS for printing for the year commencing on the 1st of April next, will be received at this Office up to Saturday the 2nd February, at 12 o’clock.
Separate tenders must be made for:
- Printing Government Gazettes and Ordinances.
- Printing Official forms.
- Printing Drafts of bills and other occasional papers.
Separate Contracts will be made for each.
The Government or the Contractors will be at liberty to terminate the Contracts by three months’ notice on either side.
