year of Our Lord One Thousand Eight
Hundred and Fifty Five, hath been di-
rected to me, Charles Simeon, Esq., as
Returning Officer for the Christchurch
Country District, in the said Province,
requiring and commanding me to cause to
be elected by and from amongst the voters
duly qualified for that purpose, freely and
indifferently, and in form and manner by
law prescribed, One Person, to serve as a
member of the Provincial Council for the
Christchurch Country District in place of
John Hall, Esq., resigned, NOW there-
fore, I, the said Charles Simeon, Esq.,
Returning Officer for the Christchurch
Country District, do hereby in pursuance
of the said recited Writ, give notice that
a Public Meeting of the Electors of the
Christchurch Country District will be
holden in the Market-Place of the Town
of Christchurch, on Thursday, the 8th day
of March next, at noon, for the purpose of
nominating One Person, to serve as a mem-
ber of the Provincial Council for the
Christchurch Country District: and in the
event of a poll being demanded for the
candidates, or any of them, such polling
shall take place on Saturday, the 10th day
of March next, in the lobby of the Provin-
cial Council Chamber at Christchurch, in
the Police Office at Lyttelton, and at Mr.
Black's store, at Kaiapoi. The voting to
commence at any time after nine o'clock,
a.m., of the said day, and to close at four
o'clock, p.m., of the same day.

James Edward Fitz Gerald, Esq.,
Superintendent of the said Province, bear-
ing date the 15th day of February, in the
year of Our Lord One Thousand Eight
Hundred and Fifty Five, hath been directed
to me, Charles Simeon, Esq., as Returning
Officer for the Town of Lyttelton, in the
said Province, requiring and commanding
me to cause to be elected by and from
amongst the voters duly qualified for that
purpose, freely and indifferently, and in
manner and form by law prescribed, Three
Persons
to serve as members of the Pro-
vincial Council for the Town of Lyttelton,
NOW therefore, I, the said Charles Simeon,
Esq., Returning-Officer for the Town of
Lyttelton, do hereby in pursuance of the
said recited Writ, give notice that a Public
Meeting of the Electors of the aforesaid
Town, will be held in the Town of Lyttel-
ton, at the Police Office, on Tuesday the

13th day of March, at noon, for the pur-
pose of nominating Three Persons to serve
as members of the Provincial Council for
the Town of Lyttelton, and in the event of
a poll being demanded for the candidates,
or any of them, such polling shall take
place on Wednesday, the 14th day of
March, in the Police Office, at Lyttelton.
The voting to commence at any time after
nine o'clock, a.m., and to close at four
o'clock, p.m., of the same day.

day, the 9th day of March next, in the
