PUBLIC NOTIFICATION.

Office of the Board of Education,
Auckland, 15th October, 1873.

IT IS HEREBY notified that the Board of Education, under "The Education Act, 1872," have constituted the District hereinafter described, to be an Educational District under the said Act, and have appointed the time and place of meeting for the Election of a District School Committee for the said Educational District, as hereunder setforth.

THE HOKIANGA EDUCATIONAL DISTRICT.

Commencing at the mouth of the Hokianga River and being bounded towards the North-West by that river to the North-Western angle of the Matakaraka Block; towards the North by the Northern boundary of said block and the Waima River to its intersection with the Southern boundary of Te Auti Block; thence towards the South-East by a line bearing South-West to the sea; and towards the South by the sea to the mouth of the Hokianga River.

Place of Meeting for the Election of School Committee:— School house, Herd’s Point, on Thursday, 6th day of November, next, at 4 o’clock p.m.

City Council Offices,
Auckland, 22nd October, 1873.

IT is hereby notified that it is the intention of the City Council, on Thursday 27th November next, to offer for lease by public Auction for a term of fifty years the following City Endowment allotments namely:—

Allotments 1, 4, 5, 6, and 31, Section 31, City of Auckland.

PUKEKOHE WEST HIGHWAY DISTRICT.

To the owner and occupier of Allotment 67, Section One West Pukekohe.

Take Notice that the Maps, Specifications and other papers relating to a Road, which the West Pukekohe District Highway Board propose to take through the above mentioned allotment, are deposited for inspection at the residence of Mr. F. Wightman, Secretary to the above Board. That the purpose of the said Maps and Specifications, are to define the site, admeasurement and mode of forming the said Road and that all persons affected by the proposed Road are hereby called upon, to set forth in writing addressed to the Chairman of the Highway Board, all objections they may have to the said Road, within forty days from the publication hereof in the Gazette.

After Parliament moved to Wellington in 1865, the Auckland Provincial Council sat in General Assembly House (depicted).

It was nicknamed the 'Shedifice' as it was large and drafty, with a leaking roof. First premier Henry Sewell described it as 'a great wooden barnshaped affair, which might serve for a Hospital, a Jail, or a Barrack'.
