Description of Reserve.	Purpose to which dedicated.

boundary of the Town of Buffalo aforesaid; towards the south-west by allotment No. 31 of the Town of Buffalo aforesaid; and towards the south-east by allotment No. 31 aforesaid; again towards the south-west by part of allotment No. 29, and allotments Nos. 28 and 27 of the Town of Buffalo aforesaid, the southern side of a road 100 links wide, thence crossing said road and by allotment No. 22, part of allotment No. 14, and allotments Nos. 13 and 12 of the town aforesaid, and towards the north-west by the Court-house Creek Road. Parish of WAITEMATA, County of Eden, eastern middle portion of allotment No. 107 of section No. 6 of the suburbs of Auckland containing 1 rood; bounded towards the north-east by allotment No. 107, 250 links; towards the south-east by allotment No. 107 aforesaid, 100 links; towards the south-west by allotment No. 107 aforesaid, 250 links; and towards the north-west by the rifle range, 100 links. Place for Public Recreation.

Parish of WAIUKU EAST, County of Eden: Subdivision allotment No. 8, of original allotment No. 98, containing 7 acres 1 rood and 20 perches; bounded towards the north by a road 100 links wide; towards the east by the western and southern boundaries of land granted as a site for a place of worship, and the western boundary of allotment No. 10, of the parish of Puni; towards the south by subdivision No. 9, and part of the abuttal of a road 100 links wide; and towards the west by subdivisions Nos. 6 and 7 of allotment No. 98 aforesaid to the places of commencement... VUW Te Waharoa — Auckland Provincial Gazette 1872, No 43

After Parliament moved to Wellington in 1865, the Auckland Provincial Council sat in General Assembly House (depicted).

It was nicknamed the 'Shedifice' as it was large and drafty, with a leaking roof. First premier Henry Sewell described it as 'a great wooden barnshaped affair, which might serve for a Hospital, a Jail, or a Barrack'.
