BY-LAW NO. 10.
A By-law to Prevent the Attaching or Placing of Signboards, Goods, or other Matters or Things to or upon Verandahs over Public Footways.
By-Law of the Council of the City of Auckland made under Special Order of the said Council, dated the first day of October, 1872, confirmed the fourth day of November, 1872, and sealed with the Common Seal of the Council of the said City this seventh day of November, 1872.
In pursuance of the Municipal Corporations Act, 1867, Part XIII., Section 186, the Council of the City of Auckland ordain as follows, that is to say—
Any person who shall attach or affix or cause to be attached or affixed any signboard screen or other appendage to or upon any portion of any awning or verandah over any public footway or roadway of the City or to or upon any pillar facia board roof or other portion of any verandah extending over any public footway save in accordance with the designs for verandahs approved or which may be approved by the Council of the City of Auckland or who shall hang or place or cause to be hung or placed upon or under the roof or upon any other portion of any such awning or verandah any goods wares gaspipes or lamps or other matters or things whatsoever shall for every such offence forfeit and pay upon conviction thereof a penalty not exceeding the sum of Five Pounds.

THE THAMES TRAMWAY COMPANY.
NOTICE is hereby given, that in accordance with the provisions of Part I of the Tramways Act, 1872, I, on behalf of the Thames Tramway Company, intend to make application to his Honor the Superintendent of Auckland, on Wednesday, the fourth (4th) day of December, 1872, for an Order authorising the Construction of a Tramway along the following Streets in the Waiotahi and Kauaeranga Highway Districts:— Commencing in Coromandel-street, opposite the Manukau Battery, and continuing along Coromandel-street, Golden Crown-street (on the side nearest the hills), Owen-street, Pollen-street, Grey-street, to Shortland; with the following, Six (6) Branch Lines viz., from Pollen-street to Shortland Saw Mills; from Pollen-street to Willoughby-street and Hape Creek Road; from Pollen-street up Mary-street to Karaka-road; from Pollen-street up Cochrane-street, to join the present Bella-street Tramway; from Pollen-street along Albert-street to Curtis’s Wharf; from Pollen-street, down Burke-street, to the Grahamstown Goods Wharf.
I also give notice that the Deposit required under Part 2 of the 1st Schedule of the Tramways Act, 1872, will be made on Saturday, the 16th day of November, 1872, at the office of the Registrar of the Supreme Court, Auckland; at the offices of the Waiotahi and Kauaeranga District Boards; and at the office of the Superintendent of Auckland.
The office at which printed copies of the Draft Order when deposited, and of the Order when made, will be found, will be my office, Beach Road, Grahamstown.
