PUBLIC NOTIFICATION.

Superintendent of the Province of Auckland.

Under and in pursuance of the powers vested in me by the fourth section of "The Highways Act, 1871," I do hereby notify that, from and after the date hereof, all that portion of the Province of Auckland hereunder described shall be a District under the said Act, and that such District shall be known by the name of The Tamahere Highway District.

Bounded towards the north-east by the Waikato confiscation boundary line from the easternmost angle of the Kirikiriroa Highway District to the north-eastern angle of the Cambridge Highway District; towards the south by a right line due west from the confiscation boundary aforesaid to the north-eastern angle of allotment No. 173 of the Parish of Hautapu, thence by the northernmost western boundaries of said lot 173 and the western boundary of allotment No. 172 to the northern boundary of the parish of Hautapu aforesaid, thence westerly by said northern boundary to the centre of the road which forms the western boundary of allotment No. 180 of said parish, thence southerly by centre of said road by the Mangaone stream; towards the south-west by the centre of the Mangaone stream aforesaid to its confluence with the Tamahere River; and towards the north-west by the Tamahere River aforesaid to the south-eastern angle of allotment No. 273, of the Parish of Kirikiriroa, thence by the south-eastern boundary of allotments Nos. 273 and 274, and by said boundary produced in a north-easterly direction to the Waikato confiscation boundary aforesaidβ€”the place of commencement.

Given under my hand, at Auckland, this thirty-first day of October, One thousand eight hundred and seventy-two.

Notice is hereby given in accordance with the provisions of "The Highways Act, 1871," that certified copies of the Assessment Lists for the Mangawai, Mangarei, and Waitakerei West Highway Districts, respectively, have been forwarded to this Office.

BY-LAW (No. 9).

A By-Law to Repeal Section Seven of By-Law Number Six of the Council of the City of Auckland.

By-Law of the Council of the City of Auckland

Made under Special Order of the said Council dated the 16th day of September 1872 confirmed the 14th day of October 1872 and sealed with the Common Seal of the Council of the said City the 17th day of October 1872.

In pursuance of the Municipal Corporations Act 1867 Part XIII. Section 186 the Council of the City of Auckland ordains as follows, that is to say:β€”

  1. So much of the By-Law numbered Six and intituled "A By-Law for the better rule and government of the City of Auckland" as relates to the keeping of Goats within the limits of the City of Auckland is hereby repealed.

  2. From and after the date of this By-Law coming into operation it shall not be lawful for any person or persons to keep any goat within the limits of the City of Auckland unless on land enclosed in the manner provided by the Municipal Corporations Act 1867 13th Schedule Part IX. Section 4. And any person who shall so offend shall forfeit and pay on conviction any sum not exceeding Five pounds for every such offence.
