THE HIGHWAY DISTRICT OF MATAKANA
(Former Boundaries defined in Gazette No. 44, dated 26th September, 1867, page 412) to be
THE MATAKANA WEST HIGHWAY DISTRICT.
Amended Boundaries.
Bounded on the north by the Omaha Highway District, from the Tamahunga mountain to the Wangateau harbour; on the east by the harbour of Wangateau aforesaid, thence crossing said harbour to the north-west angle of allotment No. 35, and by the north-west boundary of said lot No. 35 and the north-west boundary of allotment No. 53 to the creek which forms the south-western boundaries of allotments Nos. 53, 41, and 15, all of the Parish of Matakana, thence by said creek to the Matakana Harbour, and by the said harbour to the northern boundary of the Upper Mahurangi Highway District; on the south by the northern boundary of the Highway District of Upper Mahurangi aforesaid to the Dome; and on the north-west by a line from thence to the Tamahunga mountain aforesaid; exclusive of all Government towns and villages within the before-mentioned boundaries.
PUBLIC NOTIFICATION.

UNDER and in pursuance of the powers vested in the Superintendent by the fourth section of "The Highways Act, 1871," I do hereby notify that, from and after the date hereof, all that portion of the Province of Auckland hereunder described shall be a District under the said Act, and that such District shall be known by the name of
THE MATAKANA EAST HIGHWAY DISTRICT.
Bounded on the north by the sea, from the south head of the harbour of Big Omaha to Tawaranui Point; on the south-east by the sea from Tawaranui Point aforesaid to the north head of Matakana harbour; on the south-west by the north-eastern shores of the Matakana harbour aforesaid, and by the centre of the creek bounding allotments Nos. 15, 41, and 53, of the Parish of Matakana, to the south-western angle of the last-mentioned lot; on the north-west by the north-western boundaries of allotment No. 53 aforesaid, and allotments Nos. 42 and 35 of same parish to the waters of the harbour of Big Omaha, and thence by said harbour to the place of commencement.

IN pursuance of the fifth section of "The Highways Act, 1871," I do hereby bring the same Act into operation within the
MATAKANA EAST HIGHWAY DISTRICT ;
and I do hereby appoint the First Meeting of Rate-payers to take place at Mr. Wm. Buchanan’s house, Matakana East, on Monday, the seventh day of October proximo, at twelve o’clock noon; and Mr. Thomas James Millon, of Matakana, to be Chairman of such meeting.
