SEPARATE Tenders will be received at this Office until noon of Monday the 18th instant, for the undermentioned Services and Supplies for the Provincial Government during the periods stated, commencing on the 1st January, 1872.
Printed forms of Tender, and copies of the conditions and specifications of the several contracts can be obtained at this Office.

I HEREBY notify that a Crown Grant in favour of the person named in the following Schedule is now ready for delivery at the Office of the Registrar of Deeds, Auckland.

REGULATION No. 1.
REGULATION FOR CARRIAGES, Etc.
REGULATION of the COUNCIL of the Borough of Auckland, made under Special Order of the said Council, dated the 2nd day of October, 1871, confirmed the first day of November, 1871, and sealed with the Common Seal of the Council of the said Borough, this 2nd day of November, 1871.
In pursuance of section 48, subdivision 1 of part X., Schedule 13 of “The Municipal Corporations Act, 1867,” the Council of the Borough of Auckland make the following Regulation, that is to say:—
- The sum to be paid for a Hackney Carriage License shall be (£1) One Pound. The sum to be paid for a Borough Stage Carriage License shall be (£2) Two Pounds. The sum to be paid for a Driver’s and Conductor’s License shall be Five Shillings.
Regulation for Carriages

The number of each carriage, corresponding with the number of its license, shall be painted in figures not less than two inches in height and of proportionate breadth—(white upon a ground of black)—outside on the panel of each door of such carriage, or on a plate affixed thereon, or in such other manner as the Inspector of Carriages may direct.

Licensed Hackney Carriages may ply for hire on their stands at all hours—Sundays excepted.

The number of passengers allowed to be carried by any Borough Stage Carriage shall be placed in some conspicuous place on the outside of such carriage distinctly and legibly painted in words at length in the following form that is to say—“Licensed to carry ... inside and ... outside.” The letters composing the said words to be at least one inch in length and of proportionate breadth.

No smoking shall be allowed inside any Borough Stage Carriage, or outside any Borough Stage Carriage not enclosed with wood, and a notice to that effect shall be posted inside.

The lamp inside a Borough Stage Carriage shall be placed at the extreme end of the carriage.

The standings for licensed Hackney Carriages and the number of carriages allowed at any such standing at one time shall be as follows:—

The junction of Wakefield Street and Upper Queen Street—Four carriages.

St. Paul’s Church—Four carriages.

Queen Street, between the Bank of New Zealand and Wyndham Street—Six carriages.

Queen Street, between Shortland Street and Fort Street—Six carriages.

Queen Street, opposite the Old Supreme Court site—Six carriages.

The standings for Borough Stage Carriages shall be as follows:—
Devonport.
Queen Street, opposite Union Bank of Australia, one carriage above and one below the crossing.
Grafton Road.
Queen Street, opposite Duke of Marlborough Hotel—One carriage.
Parnell and Newmarket.
Post Office, Shortland Street, North side, above the pump—Three Carriages.

Licensed Borough Stage Carriages shall start and run at such stated times as may be decided on by the respective owners thereof subject to the approval of the Council.

The following shall be the Table of Rates and fares to be charged for any hackney carriage plying for hire within the prescribed space of the Borough of Auckland, and the driver of every hackney carriage shall produce a copy of the same on demand, and shall also have a copy of the same affixed conspicuously inside his carriage on the front panel thereof or in such other part as the Inspector of Carriages may direct.
