The Claremont Gold Mining Company, to be Registered: applied for by John Leydon; 15 years’ lease of 6 acres, more or less; bounded by the "Flower of Leister" on the west, on other sides names of claims unknown, Karaka; known as the "Claremont" Claim, 3 men’s ground, held under Miners’ Rights; remainder unoccupied ground; application received in Warden’s Office, Grahamstown, at 1:50 p.m., 21st August, 1871.

SCHEDULE.

The Southsea Castle Gold Mining Company, to be registered, applied for by Robert M. Mitchell; 15 years’ lease of 15 acres, more or less, of auriferous quartz land; bounded on the north by unoccupied ground, on the east and west by unoccupied ground, and on the south by the "Vulcan" and "New Year’s Gift" Leases; application (R.B. 914) dated 22nd June, 1871; withdrawn 8th August, 1871.

Charles Wallnutt, of Shortland; 15 years’ lease of 16 acres, bounded by the "Mary Ellen" and "Colossus" Claims, Alabama Creek, and "Young Earl" Claim, Karaka Block; application (R.B. 920) dated 26th June, 1871; withdrawn 25th July, 1871.

John Clair, of Paterangi, Waikato, settler, applied for, by Albert Walker; 15 years’ lease of about 10 men’s ground, more or less; bounded on the North by the "Waiotahi" lease, on the West and South by the "Imperial Crown" and "Prince Imperial" leases, and on the East by the "Mariners’ Reef" and "Sailor Prince" Claims, Karaka; application (R.B. 839), dated 3rd April, 1871; withdrawn, 16th August, 1871.


PUBLIC NOTIFICATION.

IT is hereby notified that the Mining Lease set forth in the Schedule hereunder has been surrendered, and I do hereby revoke the exemption of the land therein mentioned from occupation for mining purposes, and declare the same to be open for occupation.

William Lang Thornburn, 15 years’ lease of 5 acres, more or less, situated at Tararu, adjoining Bioazard’s No. 2 claim; lease dated 9th February, 1871; surrendered 29th July, 1871.


PUBLIC NOTIFICATION.

IT is hereby notified that it is intended to grant Leases for Gold Mining purposes to the applicants specified in the Schedule hereunder, unless valid objections can be shown against granting such Leases. Copies of the applications made, and plans annexed, may be seen at the Warden’s Office, Coromandel.

SCHEDULE.

The Royal Oak Gold Mining Company, Limited, applied for, by W. Horne; 15 years’ lease of two acres, more or less; being all that piece or parcel of land bounded on the North by the "Tokatea" Gold Mining Company’s lease already granted; on the South-west by the "Little and Good" Claim; and on the East by the "Little Wonder" Gold Mining Company’s ground; ground held under Miners’ Rights, and known as the "Royal Oak" Claim. Easement required – The sole use of the low level tunnel driven into the company’s ground and space to discharge mullock over the sides of the hills, to be shown on the plan; application received in Warden’s Office, Coromandel, at 2:30 p.m., on the 16th August, 1871.

The Argo Gold Mining Company, to be registered, applied for, by Thomas Douglas; 15 years’ lease of 16 acres, more or less; being all that piece or parcel of land bounded on the North and West by the creek flowing immediately at the base of the Tokatea range; on the Eastern side, and on all other sides by unoccupied ground; not held under Miners’ Rights; application received in Warden’s office, Coromandel, at 3:30 p.m., on the 23rd August, 1871.
