156 AUCKLAND PROVINCIAL GOVERNMENT GAZETTE.
"The Auckland Waste Lands Act, 1867," I do hereby temporarily reserve for the purpose of a Public Pound in the District of Wainui, until the next session of the Provincial Council, all that piece or parcel of land in the Province of Auckland, containing by admeasurement about one acre two roods and thirteen perches, more or less, and being Allotment No. 236 of the Parish of Waiwera, in the County of Marsden.
Given under my hand and the public seal of the said Province this twenty-fourth day of June, One thousand eight hundred and seventy-one.

PUBLIC NOTIFICATION.

Auckland, 27th June, 1871.
It is hereby notified that applications for Leases for Mining purposes in Upper Tararu will now be received, but no Lease will be granted, unless, and until it is proved to the satisfaction of the Warden, that a sum of Fifty pounds per acre has been actually expended in working the ground within three months after the date of application; and if at any time before proof of such expenditure has been given to the Warden it is found that bond fide mining operations are not being carried on the application will forthwith be refused.

HAURAKI GOLDFIELD.
PUBLIC NOTIFICATION.
Superintendent’s Office,
Auckland, 29th June, 1871.
In pursuance of the 29th section of “The Goldfields Act, 1866,” and of the Regulations made under that Act for the granting of Leases for Gold Mining purposes, it is hereby notified that it is intended to grant Leases for Gold Mining purposes to the applicants specified in the Schedule hereunder, unless valid objections can be shown against granting such Leases.
Copies of the applications made and Plans annexed may be seen at the Warden’s Office, Grahamstown.

SCHEDULE.
The Eureka Hill Gold Mining Company, Registered, applied for by Thomas H. Crawford; 15 years’ lease of 16 acres or thereabouts; bounded on the north by the “Nevada,” on the south by the “Moanataiari,” on the west by the “Kuranui,” and on the east by the “Moanataiari,” Karaka; ground held under lease by the late “Eureka” Gold Mining Company, said lease to be surrendered for the purpose of this application, held under Miners’ Rights; application received in Warden’s Office, Grahamstown, at 12:45 p.m., 12th June, 1871.—R.B. 908.
The Red White and Blue Gold Mining Company, Registered, applied for by R. McDonald Scott; 15 years’ lease of 2½ acres, quartz reef, bounded by “West Coast,” “Point Russell,” and “Moanataiari” Gold Mining Companies’ Claims, 6 men’s ground, and spare ground, Moanataiari.
Karaka, known as the “Red White and Blue Claim,” held under Miners’ Rights; application received in Warden’s Office, Grahamstown, at 12:40 p.m., 1871.—R.B. 909.
William McDonald and Hugh R. Jones, applied for by Thomas Hunter; 15 years’ lease of 16 acres, auriferous, bounded on the east by the “Kuranui Star” Claim, and “Pride of Kuranui” lease, on the south-east by the “Overland Route” Gold Mining Company, embracing the “Diamond” Claim, and on the west by vacant ground, Karaka; application received in Warden’s Office, Grahamstown, at 11 a.m., 15th June, 1871.—R.B. 911.
William McDonald and Hugh R. Jones, applied for by Thomas Hunter; 15 years’ lease of 16 acres, auriferous, bounded on the west by the “Overland Route” Gold Mining Company, on the south by the beach, embracing the “Royal Albert,” “Kohinoor,” and “Valentine” Claims, Karaka; abandoned ground; application received in Warden’s Office, Grahamstown, at 11:3 a.m., 15th June, 1871.—R.B. 912.
