SCHEDULE.

John Binney, 15 years’ lease of 16 acres more or less auriferous, bounded Eastward by the Waio-Karaka Creek, Northward by Montreal Lease, Westward by the Ottawa Lease, and Southward by the Tower of London and adjoining ground, Karaka Block, known as the “Toronto” Claim not held under Miners’ Right; application received in Warden’s Office, Grahamstown, at 11.10 a.m., 15th May, 1871. R.B. 867.

The Long Drive Gold Mining Company, Registered, applied for by John W. Walker, 15 years’ lease of 10 acres, auriferous quartz reef on the Kuranui Hill, bounded by the “Kuranui,” the “Shotover,” the “Junction,” the “Poverty and Charleston,” and the “Herald” Claims, and by the Sea; comprising the “Long Drive,” the “City of Glasgow,” the “Fourth of July,” and the “Wakatipu” Claims, the latter held under Miners’ Rights; application received in Warden’s Office, Grahamstown, at 11 a.m., 18th May, 1871. R.B. 868.

The Mary Ann Gold Mining Company, applied for by Jas. Crawford; 15 years’ lease of 5 acres more or less, bounded by the “Red Queen,” “Cure,” “Manukau,” and “Waiatah” Companies’ ground, also by “Cornstock” and “Ivanhoe” Leases, Karaka Block; Claim known as the “Mary Ann,” held under Miners’ Rights; application received in Warden’s Office, Grahamstown, at 3 p.m. on the 18th May, 1871. R.B. 869.

The Queen of the May Gold Mining Company, to be Registered, applied for by David Philp; 15 years’ lease of 24 men’s ground more or less, about 8 acres, auriferous reef, bounded on the West by the “Queen of Beauty” and “Tower of London” Claims, on the North-east by Binny’s Lease, and on the North and South by surplus ground, Karaka; Claim known as the “Queen of the May;” application received in Warden’s Office, Grahamstown, at 12.5 p.m. on the 20th May, 1871. R.B. 870.

The City of London Company, applied for by Francis Joseph Wardell; 15 years’ lease of about 3 acres, more or less, of auriferous land, bounded by the “Queen of Beauty,” “Queen of May,” and Binney’s lease, situated on the Waio-Karaka Creek, Karaka Block; claim known as “City of London,” and unoccupied ground; application received in Warden’s Office, Grahamstown, at 12.10 p.m. on the 20th May, 1871. R.B. 871.

The Virginia City Gold Mining Company, Registered; 15 years’ lease of 8 acres more or less of auriferous quartz, bounded on the Southeast by “Dunluce” and Sink to Rise “lease,” on the Northwest by the “Britannia and Brunswick” lease, on the North-east by the “United Service” lease, and on the South-west by abandoned ground late “Southern Cross” Claim; Claim known as the “Virginia City,” part held under Miners’ Right and part unoccupied ground; application received in Warden’s Office, Grahamstown, at 12.15 p.m. on the 22nd May, 1871. R.B. 872.

PUBLIC NOTIFICATION.

Superintendent’s Office,
Auckland, 27th May, 1871.

IT is hereby notified that, in pursuance of sub-section 8 of section 35 of the Regulations for the granting of Mining Leases, re-entry has been made by the Lessor upon the ground demised by the Lessees hereunder named, and the Lessees’ estates therein determined, and I do hereby revoke the exemption of the lands therein described from occupation for mining purposes, and declare the same now open for occupation.

The Gladstone Gold Mining Company, Registered; 15 years’ lease of 4 acres, 3 roods, 14 men’s ground, adjoining the “Great Extended,” “United Service,” “Golden Age,” “Dayspring,” and “Bunker’s Hill” claims, Waiotahi; lease dated 25th June, 1870.

NOTICE is hereby given, in accordance with the provisions of “The Highways Act, 1871,” that certified copies of the Assessment Lists for the Waiau, Pakuranga, and Albertland South Highway Districts have been forwarded to this Office.

A PROCLAMATION.

WHEREAS by “The Municipal Corporations Act, 1867,” it is enacted that the district comprised within any of the cities, towns, or places therein particularly specified, incorporated or reputed to have been incorporated as therein mentioned (including amongst other cities and towns or places the city hereinafter named and specified), may, upon the performance or happening of the conditions, and upon compliance with the terms by the said Act imposed, by Proclamation of the Governor, be constituted a borough under the said Act. And whereas the conditions and terms by the said Act imposed for the constitution as a borough of the district within the city hereinafter specified have been duly performed, have happened, and have been complied with.

Now therefore, I, Sir George Ferguson Bowen, the Governor of the Colony of New Zealand, do hereby constitute and proclaim the district comprised within the city of Auckland as the boundaries thereof are defined in and by “The Municipal Corporations Act, 1867,” to be a borough under the said Act.

Given under the hand of His Excellency Sir
George Ferguson Bowen, Knight Grand Cross of the Most Distinguished Order of Saint Michael and Saint George, Governor and Commander-in-Chief in and over Her Majesty’s Colony of New Zealand, and its dependencies, this day of 1871.
