AUCKLAND PROVINCIAL GOVERNMENT GAZETTE.

PUBLIC NOTIFICATION.

Superintendent’s Office,
Auckland, 3rd February, 1870.

IN pursuance of the 29th Section of “The Gold Fields Act, 1866,” and of the Regulations made under that Act for the granting of Leases for Gold Mining purposes, it is hereby notified that it is intended to grant Leases for Gold Mining purposes to the applicants specified in the annexed Schedule unless valid objections can be shown against granting such Leases.

Objections to granting the following applications, stating the grounds of objection, must be made in writing, and lodged with the Warden, at Shortland, within the time prescribed by the aforesaid Regulations.

Copies of the applications made, and plans annexed, may be seen at the Warden’s Office, Shortland.

SCHEDULE.

William Simpson, for Westminster Abbey Gold Mining Company; 15 years’ lease of 16½ acres of ground; bounded on North East by Shotover Claim No. 2, on South East by Tokatea Creek, Coromandel; with usual right of road and water; not held under Miners’ rights; application received in Warden’s Office, Coromandel, at 4.30 p.m., 8th October, 1869.

William Hill, for the Haratunga Gold Mining Company; 15 years’ lease of 16 acres of ground; situate on the dividing Spur between the Waikoromiko Creek, and a Creek running into the same on the Eastern side; the Great Western Prospecting Claim and unoccupied land adjoining; situate in Kennedy’s Bay, with usual right of road; partly held under Miners’ rights; application received in Warden’s Office, Coromandel, at 10.5 a.m., 11th October, 1869.

Ernest Sydle, 15 years’ lease of 8 acres of ground, more or less; being two claims known as the Whakawa and Puketutu; situate on the Whakarou Creek, Coromandel; bounded by the “Matchless,” “Golden City,” and “Shooting Star” claims; with usual right of water; held under Miners’ rights; application received in Warden’s Office, Coromandel, at 4.35 p.m., 11th October, 1869.

Joseph Innes, 15 years’ lease of 10 acres of ground, more or less; situate on the dividing range between Coromandel and Kennedy’s Bay, and at the head of Paul’s Creek, adjoining the “Timbuctoo,” and “Bay View” claims, and known as the “Julius Vogel” claim; with usual right of road down to water site; held under Miners’ rights; application received in Warden’s Office, Coromandel, at 11.10 a.m., 12th October, 1869.

George J. Baillie, 15 years’ lease of 16 acres of ground, more or less; being all that piece of ground called or known as the “Coromandel Long Drive” claim; situate at Coromandel; with usual right of road and water; held under Miners’ rights; application received in Warden’s Office, Coromandel, at 7.40 a.m., 13th October, 1869.

PUBLIC NOTIFICATION.

Under and in pursuance of the powers in me vested in that behalf by “The Impounding Act, 1867,” I do hereby abolish as a Public Pound those premises situate at Otahuhu, abutting on the Great South Road, and separated by a passage from the Stockyard of Mr. John Hall, as notified in the Provincial Government Gazette, No. 22, of date the 20th August, 1858; and I do hereby appoint, in lieu thereof, those premises situate at Otahuhu within the boundaries of the Otahuhu Highway District, known as the Sale Yards of Messrs. Carey, Gillies, Hunter, & Co., to be and be used as a Public Pound for the purposes of the said recited Act.

Given under my hand, at Auckland, this third day of February, in the year of our Lord One thousand eight hundred and seventy.

PUBLIC NOTIFICATION.

Superintendent’s Office,
Auckland, 3rd February, 1870.

DO HEREBY NOTIFY that the Highway Trustees of the Otahuhu District under “The Highways Act, 1867,” have, with my approval, appointed Mr. Abijah Jervis to be the Keeper of the Public Pound at Otahuhu, in the room of Mr. John Hall, resigned.

And I do hereby further notify that the Fees and Prices, set forth in the following Schedule, may be taken and charged by the said Keeper.

FEES AND PRICES TO BE TAKEN AND CHARGED BY POUNDKEEPERS.

I.—Poundage Fees.

For every Horse, Mare, Gelding, Colt, Filly, Foal, Mule, or Ass ... 0 6
Bull, Cow, Ox, Steer, Heifer, or Calf ... 2 6
Ram, Ewe, Wether, or Lamb ... 0 2
For the first twenty ... 0 2
The next thirty ... 0 1½
All others above 100 ... 0 0½
Boar, Sow, or other pig ... 1 0
Goat or Kid ... 1 0
The above fees to be paid for each day, or part of a day, during which the animal is kept in pound.

II.—Charges for Food.
