It is hereby notified for the granting of Leases for Gold Mining purposes, it is hereby notified that it is intended to grant a Lease for Gold Mining purposes to the Applicant named in the Schedule hereunder, unless valid objections can be shown against granting such Lease.
Copy of the Application made, and Plan annexed, may be seen at the Warden’s Office, Shortland.

John Henry Burnside, for the Waiotahi Gold Mining Company, Registered; 15 years’ lease of 8 acres; bounded by the “Waiotahi” Company’s ground, the “Golden Crown Extended,” the “Mariner’s Reef,” and the “Hidden Treasure,” Karaka Block; held in part under application for Lease made 19th January, 1870, by W. B. Howell, and the remainder under Miners’ Rights as “St. Lawrence” Claim; application received in Warden’s Office, Shortland, at 12 noon, 2nd June, 1870.\n

It is hereby notified for public information that the land mentioned and described in the Schedule hereunder written, has been reserved and set apart as a Rifle Range for the use of the General Volunteer Corps in the Auckland District: And it is further notified that, as a warning to persons to avoid the vicinity during the periods of Rifle Practice, danger flags will be stationed at points to be hereafter determined upon, and of which due notice will be given.

A strip of land 2,750 links in length, by 300 links in width, traversing portions of the Stockade and Mount Eden Reserves, in Section No. 6 of the Suburbs of Auckland, as the same is more particularly delineated on the plan of that locality deposited in the Waste Lands Office.

In pursuance of the 29th section of “The Gold Fields Act, 1866,” and of the Regulations made thereunder, it is hereby notified that the several Applications for Mining Leases set forth in the Schedule hereunder have been abandoned, and that the land therein mentioned, in so far as not occupied under Miners’ Rights, is now open for occupation.
Plans may be seen at the Engineer’s Office, Grahamstown.
