IT is hereby notified that Leases have been refused to the Applicants named in the Schedule hereunder, and that the land therein mentioned, in so far as not occupied under Miners’ Rights, is now open for occupation. Plans may be seen at the Engineer’s Office, Grahamstown.

Robert Davidson, for the Monitor Gold Mining Company, Puriri; 15 years’ lease of 15 acres; bounded on the North by the “Sir Colin Campbell” Company’s ground, and East, West, and South, by spare ground; application notified in Gazette No. 63, dated 5th September, 1869, page 986.

Alexander McKechine, for the Rejected Gold Mining Company; 15 years’ lease of about 4 acres; bounded on the North by the “Bachelor’s” Claim, now the “Maid of Karaka,” on the East by the “Hokianga,” on the South by the “Melbourne” Gold Mining Company, on the West by the “Happy-go-Lucky,” and situated on the Lord Nelson Hill, Karaka Block; application notified in Gazette No. 58, dated 27th August, 1869, page 836.

Thomas George Green, for the Banner of War Gold Mining Company; 15 years’ lease of 16 acres; situated in Shellback Creek; bounded by the “Royal Saxon” to the North, to the East by the “John O’Groats,” to the South and Southward by the “Evening Bell” and “Seven Pillars”; application notified in Gazette No. 61, dated 3rd September, 1869, page 922.

PUBLIC NOTIFICATION.

In pursuance of the powers in me vested by the third section of “The Highways Act, 1867,” I do hereby notify that I have altered and amended both the name and the boundaries of the Panmure Highway District under the said Act, as hereafter set forth.

THE PANMURE TOWNSHIP HIGHWAY DISTRICT.—Amended Boundaries.

This district comprises all the lands and highways included within the boundaries of the Township of Panmure, excepting so much of the main road called or known by the name of the “Panmure and Howick Road,” as traverses the said township.

PUBLIC NOTIFICATION.

Esquire, Superintendent of the Province of Auckland.

In virtue of the powers in me vested by the third section of “The Highways Act, 1867,” I do hereby notify that that portion of the Province of Auckland hereunder described, shall be a District under the said Act, and that such District shall be known by the name thereto prefixed, that is to say—

THE MOUNTS WELLINGTON HIGHWAY DISTRICT.

Bounded towards the North by the Southern boundary of the Tamaki West Highway District before described, from the South-western angle of allotment No. 12a to the South-eastern angle of allotment No. 39, both of the Parish of Waitemata; towards the East and South-east by the waters of the Tamaki River; towards the South by the middle of the Portage Road, from the Tamaki River aforesaid, to the Great South Road; towards the South-west by the Great South Road aforesaid, from Portage Road before mentioned, to the Harp of Erin Inn; and towards the North-west by a straight line from the Harp of Erin Inn aforesaid, to the Western angle of allotment No. 25 of section No. 12 of the Suburbs of Auckland, and by the South-eastern boundary of said lot No. 25a to the South-western angle of allotment No. 12a to the point of commencement, exclusive of the lands and highways comprised within the boundaries of the Township of Panmure, excepting so much of the main road called or known by the name of the “Panmure and Howick Road,” as traverses the said township.

NOTICE is hereby given, in terms of “The Highways Act, 1867, Amendment Act, 1870,” that certified copies of the Assessments Lists for the Mangapai and Parawai Highway Districts respectively, have been duly delivered at this Office.
