1.—OPOTIKI DISTRICT.

Bounded on the north by the Bay of Plenty from the south head of Whakatane river to Tirowhanga; on the east by a direct line from Tirowhanga aforesaid to the south boundary of the confiscated land; on the south by the south boundary of the confiscated land aforesaid until it intersects the Whakatane river; and on the west by the Whakatane river aforesaid to the point of commencement, exclusive of the township of Opotiki.

2.—MATATA DISTRICT.

Bounded on the north by the Bay of Plenty from Waitahanui to the south head of the Whakatane river; on the east by the Whakatane river aforesaid to its intersection with the south boundary of the confiscated land; and on the south and west by the south and west boundaries of the confiscated land aforesaid to Waitahanui, the point of commencement.

3.—TE AWANUI DISTRICT.

Bounded on the north by the Bay of Plenty from Tirowhanga to Aparapara; on the east and south by the east and south boundaries of the confiscated land; and on the west by a right line from the south boundary of the confiscated land aforesaid to Tirowhanga, the point of commencement.

PUBLIC NOTIFICATION.

I DO hereby, in pursuance of the powers vested in the Superintendent, by the third section of “The Highways Act, 1867” notify, that I have divided, for the purposes of the said Act, all that portion of the Province of Auckland comprised within the limits of the confiscated territory in the Tauranga district, into the following districts.

Given under my hand, at Auckland, this twenty-fourth day of September, one thousand eight hundred and sixty-seven.

1.—TAURANGA DISTRICT.

Bounded on the north by the Tauranga harbour; on the east by the Tauranga harbour aforesaid and the Waimapu river; on the south by a line running along the southern boundary of “Greenton” (Gate Pa Militia Town) and extending from the Waimapu river aforesaid to the Wairoa river; and on the west by the Wairoa river aforesaid, exclusive of all townships within the before mentioned boundaries.

2.—WAIMAPU DISTRICT.

Bounded on the north by a line running along the southern boundary of “Greenton” (Gate Pa Militia Town) and extending from the Waimapu river to the Wairoa river; and on the east, south, and west, by the limits of the confiscated land.

PUBLIC NOTIFICATION.

By DANIEL POLLEN Esquire, Deputy Superintendent of the Province of Auckland.

I DO hereby notify, that, in pursuance of the powers vested in the Superintendent by the third section of “The Highways Act, 1867” I have caused to be divided into the following Districts, for the purposes of the said Act, with their descriptive names and boundaries as hereunder set forth, all the lands comprised within that portion of the Province of Auckland, bounded on the north-east by the parishes of Hikurangi, Whangarei, Parahaki, and Owhiwa, to the Pataua river, thence by the Pataua river aforesaid, and the sea to point Te Arai; on the south by the parish of Mangawai, the Hakaru, Te Puni, and Oruawharo rivers, the Wairoa river and the south-eastern boundary of the Te Kuri block; on the south-west by the west coast to the north-western boundary of the Kopuru block, and on the north-west by the Kopuru block aforesaid and the Wairoa and Wairua rivers to the point of commencement;—excepting all such lands as are contained within the boundaries of the Districts under the said Act, named the Whangarei, Whareora, Wairau, Waipu, Paparoa, Kaurihohore, Maungakaramea, Whau Whau, and Ruatangata.

1.—MANGAWAI DISTRICT.

Bounded on the north-east by the east coast from the north head of Mangawai harbour to Te Arai point; on the south by the northern boundaries of the Waikeri Awera and Oruawharo blocks; on the west by the eastern boundary of the parish of Kaiwaka; and on the north-west by the south eastern boundary of the Waipu Highway District exclusive of the township of Molesworth.

2.—OWHIWA DISTRICT.

Bounded on the north by part of the southern boundary of the Whareora Highways District, and the northern boundary of the parish of Owhiwa to the Pataua river; on the east by the Pataua river aforesaid,
