PUBLIC NOTIFICATION.

By DANIEL POLLEN, Esq., Deputy Superintendent of the Province of Auckland.

BY virtue of the powers vested in the Superintendent by the third section of The Highways Act, 1867, I do hereby notify that the portion of the Province of Auckland comprised within the boundaries hereunder described shall be a District under the said Act, and that such District shall be known by the name thereto prefixed, that is to say—

The Manurewa District.

Bounded on the north by a road which traverses allotments Nos. 9 and 10, of the parish of Manurewa, and forms the south-western boundaries of allotments Nos. 11, 12, 36, 39, and 40, of the parish aforesaid to the north-western boundary of Clendon’s Grant; thence by parts of the north-western and northern boundaries of said Grant; on the south-east by the south-eastern boundary of Clendon’s Grant aforesaid to the Manukau harbour; on the south-west by the Manukau harbour aforesaid; and on the west by the Pukaki creek and the Pukaki portage road to the Tamaki river, thence by said river to the point of commencement.

I DO hereby notify, that, in pursuance of the powers vested in the Superintendent by the third section of The Highways Act, 1867, I have caused to be divided into the following Districts for the purposes of the said Act, with their descriptive names and boundaries as hereunder set forth, all the lands comprised within that portion of the Province of Auckland, bounded on the north-west by the Manukau harbour and the north-western boundary of the Hunua Highways District, as hereafter described; on the north-east by the Wairoa and Mangawheau rivers to the south-east angle of lot 212, of the parish of Hunua aforesaid, thence southerly by a direct line to the Mangatawhiri creek, thence by said creek to the Waikato river; on the south-east by the Waikato river aforesaid; and on the south-west by the sea:—excluding all such lands as are contained within the boundaries of the Pukekohe District under the said Act.

Given under my hand at Auckland, this twenty-fourth day of September, one thousand eight hundred and sixty-seven.

1.—Hunua District.

Bounded on the north-west by Hewlin’s line from the Manukau harbour to the north-western angle of lot 1 of the parish of Opaheke, thence by the south-western and south-eastern boundaries of lot 1 aforesaid and the south-eastern boundaries of lot 3 to the south-western angle of lot 27 of the parish of Hunua, thence by the south-eastern boundaries of lot 27 aforesaid, 28, 29, and 30, and the south-eastern and north-eastern boundaries of lot 31 (all of the parish of Hunua) to Hewlin’s line, and by that line to the north-western angle of lot 22, thence by the south-western boundary of lot 22 aforesaid, the south-western and part of the south-eastern boundaries of lot 78, the south-western, south-eastern, and part of the north-eastern boundaries of lot 135, the south-eastern boundaries of 132, the south-eastern and north-eastern boundaries of 76, the south-eastern boundary of lot 109, part of the eastern boundary of lot 3, the southern and eastern boundaries of lot 147, the eastern boundary of 146, part of the southern boundary of 83, and the southern boundaries of lot 113, to the Wairoa river; on the north-east by the Wairoa river and the Mangawheau river to the south-eastern angle of lot 212; on the south-east by the south-eastern boundaries of lots 212 aforesaid, 211, 210, 209, 202, 191, 87, and 199, of the parish of Hunua aforesaid, and the south-eastern boundaries of lots 46 and 39 of the parish of Opaheke to the Great South Road; and on the south-west by the Great South Road to Slippery creek, thence by the said creek and the waters of the Hingahia and Pahurehure creeks to the point of commencement, exclusive of all townships within the beforementioned boundaries.

2.—Karaka District.

Bounded on the north-west by the waters of the Manukau harbour, the Hingahia creek, and Slippery creek, to the Great South Road; on the north-east by the Great South Road aforesaid, to the eastern angle of lot 51 of the parish of Opaheke; on the south-east by the south-eastern boundary of 51 aforesaid, the north-eastern and south-eastern boundaries of lot 54, the south-eastern and south-western boundaries of lot 55, and part of the south-western boundaries of 56 of the parish of Opaheke aforesaid, the south-eastern boundary of lot 81 of the parish of Karaka,
