part of the north-eastern boundary of lot 74, the north-eastern and south-eastern boundaries of lot 82, the south-eastern boundary of lot 79, and the south-eastern boundary of lot 60, all the parish of Karaka aforesaid; and on the south-west by the south-west boundaries of lots 60 aforesaid, 89, 50, 47, 38, and 29, to the creek which forms part of the north-western boundary of lot 29 aforesaid, and by that creek to the Manukau harbour aforesaid exclusive of all townships within the beforementioned boundaries.

3.—MAKETU DISTRICT.

Bounded on the north-west by the south-eastern boundaries of allotments Nos. 39 and 46 of the parish of Opaheke and the south-eastern boundaries of allotments Nos. 199, 37, 191, 202, 209, 210, 211, and 212, of the parish of Hunua; on the east by a right line running in a southerly direction from the south-east angle of allotment No. 212 of said parish of Hunua aforesaid, to the Maungatawhiri creek, and by the said creek to the Great South Road; and on the south and the south-west by the Great South Road aforesaid, exclusive of all or any parts of Government towns and villages within the limits of this the Maketu district.

4.—WAIUKU DISTRICT.

Bounded on the north-east by the south-west boundaries of allotments Nos. 29, 38, 47, 50, 89, and 60, of the parish of Karaka, the south-western boundary of allotment No. 74, the north-western and south-western boundaries of lot No. 44, and part of the south-western boundary of lot No 18, all of the parish of Pukekohe, and the north-eastern boundary of Camerontown to the Waikato river; on the south-east by the Waikato river aforesaid; on the south-west by the Awaroa river, and by the south-western boundaries of allotments Nos. 15, 14, 13, 12, 11, 7, 6, and 4, of the parish of Waiuku East, the south-western boundary of a native reserve, the Waiuku creek, and Waiuku estuary; and on the north-west by the waters of the Manukau harbour, exclusive of all Government townships within the before mentioned boundaries.

5.—WAIFIRI DISTRICT.

Bounded on the north-east by the Waiuku estuary and the south-western boundaries of a native reserve, and lots 4, 6, 7, 11, 12, 13, 14, and 15, of the parish of Waiuku to the Awaroa river, and by that river to the Wai-kato river; on the south-east by the Wai-kato river aforesaid; on the south-west by the sea; and on the north-west by the south-eastern boundaries of the Waitara Special Settlement, to the Waiuku estuary aforesaid, exclusive of all townships within the before mentioned boundaries.

6.—AWITI DISTRICT.

Bounded on the north and north-east by the Manukau harbour, from the south head of harbour aforesaid, to the south-east angle of the Waitara Special Settlement; on the south-east by the south-eastern boundary of the Waitara Special Settlement aforesaid; and on the south-west by the sea to the south head of Manukau harbour aforesaid, the point of commencement, exclusive of all townships within the beforementioned boundaries.

I DO hereby notify, that, in pursuance of the powers vested in the Superintendent by the third section of "The Highways Act, 1867," I have caused to be divided into the following Districts, for the purposes of the said Act, with their descriptive names and boundaries as hereunder set forth, all the lands comprised within that portion of the Province of Auckland, bounded on the north by the southern boundary of the Mangawai block, the Hakaru, Topuni, and Oruawharo Rivers; on the east by the sea from Te Arai point to the north head of the Waitemata harbour; on the south by the waters of the Waitemata harbour, the Whau creek, the Whau portage road, and the waters of the Manukau harbour; and on the west by the sea from the north head of Manukau harbour to the south head of the Kaipara harbour, and by the waters of the Kaipara harbour to the mouth of the Oruawharo river;—excepting all such lands as are contained within the boundaries of the Districts under the said Act, named North Shore, Iako, Flagstaff, Lower Mahurangi, Upper Mahurangi, Waitakerei East, Waitakerei West, and Waitakerei South.
