NOTICE TO MARINERS.

MANUKAU HARBOUR.

Superintendent’s Office,
Auckland, 5th Nov., 1864.

NOTICE is hereby given that a Cone Buoy,
painted red, with a Barrel Beacon on
it, showing ten feet above water, has been
placed at the North end of “Treachery
Breaker,” in four fathoms (at low water),
about one cable clear of the shoal. It is to
be kept on the Starboard side inwards—or, in
other words, it marks the south side of the
Southern Channel at the entrance of the
Manukau. Masters of vessels are to bear in
mind that in future there will be no Inner
Fairway Buoy.

HEREBY Notify that the Chairman of
the Annual Meeting of the Electors of
the “Wairoa District” has, in accordance
with the provisions of the “Highways Act,
1862,” presented to me, in writing, the names
of the undermentioned gentlemen elected
Highway Trustees for that District:—

E. Roberts,
W. H. Thorp,
James Walker.

NOTICE TO MARINERS.

PORT OF KAIPARA.

NOTICE is hereby given, that a Buoy
(striped red and black) has been placed
on the south or outer extreme of the Sand
banks at the entrance of the Wairoa River,
between the Wairoa and Otamatea Channels.
A similar buoy, having a perch on top, has
also been placed on the S.W. or extreme
point of the spit running out from Tapera
Flats, between the Wairoa and Kaipara
Rivers.

Both buoys are moored in five (5) fathoms
at low water, with the following compass
bearings:—Wairoa Buoy—South Head, or
Pilot House now building thereon, S.E. by
E.; Pouto Point, N.; Mount Wakahuranga, N.E. Tapera Spit Buoy—South
Head, or Pilot House now building thereon,
E. by S.½S.; Pouto Point, N. by W.; Mount
Wakahuranga, N.E.N. All red buoys to
be kept on the starboard hand.

NOTICE TO SHIPPING REPORTERS, WATERMEN, AND OTHERS.

Harbour Office,
Auckland, 27th October, 1864.

IN consequence of the reckless manner in
which the boats of shipping reporters
and watermen are constantly boarding vessels
while under weigh and working up the
harbour, thereby endangering life and
obstructing the Pilots in the execution of their
duty, it is hereby notified for general infor-
mation that the following (18th) Clause of
the Harbour Regulations will henceforth be
strictly enforced:—

“18. No waterman or other person in
charge of any boat shall go alongside, or
board, or suffer or permit any person to
board, any vessel arriving at any port from
beyond sea, until such vessel is properly
moored.”

NOTICE TO MARINERS.

HOKIANGA HARBOUR, NEW ZEALAND.

Superintendent’s Office,
Auckland, 22nd Oct., 1864.

NOTICE is hereby given that a Signal
House has been erected on the South
Head, Hokianga Harbour.

The Signal House will be observed by
vessels approaching before the Flagstaff can
be seen.
