the powers vested in and delegated to me in
this behalf do hereby grant unto Ludovico
Maratini and Co., a special claim of ten acres
situated at Italian Gully, Waimea District,
subject to the following conditions:

  1. That one chain on each side of the
    proposed branch of the Waimea Water Race,
    (as shown on the plan in the Governor’s
    Delegate’s office) be reserved.

  2. That the claim be surveyed at the
    expense of Maratini and Co.

  3. That four men per acre be constantly
    employed on the claim. (This condition may
    be temporarily relaxed at the discretion of the
    Warden of the district.)

  4. Maratini and party to pay a yearly
    rental of one pound per acre in advance.

  5. Maratini and party shall have no right
    to sell or otherwise dispose of any part of
    the claim. This condition is not to affect the
    right to sell or otherwise dispose of shares.

  6. Maratini and party shall comply
    with the directions of the Warden of the
    district as regards the working of the claim.

  7. Clauses 25, 29, and 30, of “The Mining
    Lease Regulations, 1871,” to be complied with
    by Maratini and party.

twenty-third day of November, one
thousand eight hundred and seventy-
five.

PROCLAMATION.

WHEREAS, by the twenty-ninth section
of “The Goldfields Act, 1866,” it
is enacted that it shall be lawful for the
Governor in Council, in the name and on
behalf of Her Majesty, to demise for mining
purposes, to any person, for any term not
exceeding fifteen years from the making of
the lease, any auriferous Crown lands not
exceeding ten acres in the whole of alluvial
ground, or an area of 400 yards by 200 yards
on a quartz reef, and to grant sites for
machinery and any necessary easements for
the purpose aforesaid, subject nevertheless, to
the conditions or provisions in the said
section contained:

And whereas, by the one hundred and ninth
section of the said Act, it is enacted that it
shall be lawful for the Governor in Council
under his hand and the public seal of the
Colony, from time to time, to delegate to
such person as the Governor may think fit,
all or any of the powers vested in the
Governor by the said Act, except the powers
conferred by sections twenty-two, forty,
forty-eight, sixty, ninety-six, and one hundred
and seven thereof subject or not to any
limitations or restrictions as he may think
fit:

And whereas, by an Order in Council
dated the second day of February, 1874, and
published in the New Zealand Gazette of
the 26th day of February, 1874, His Excellency the Governor did, under his hand and
the public seal of the Colony, delegate unto
me, James Alexander Bonar, Superintendent
of the Province of Westland, all the powers
vested in the Governor under or by virtue
of “The Goldfields Act, 1866,” except the
powers conferred by sections twenty-two, forty,
forty-eight, sixty, ninety-six, and one hundred
and seven of the said Act, to have, hold, and
exercise the said powers hereby delegated to
me, the said James Alexander Bonar, within
the Province of Westland:

Provided always that copies of all rules
and regulations made under the said delegation
shall be forthwith transmitted to the Colonial
Secretary, in order that the same may be laid
before the General Assembly, in accordance
with the provisions of the one hundred and
tenth clause of the said Act:

Now therefore, I, James Alexander Bonar,
Superintendent of the Province of Westland,
in exercise of the powers vested in me in
that behalf, do hereby give notice that on the
tenth day of December, one thousand eight
hundred and seventy-five, I intend to demise
to the person named in the Schedule hereto
annexed certain auriferous Crown Lands of
alluvial ground for the term specified in the
said Schedule.

twenty-third day of November, one
thousand eight hundred and seventy-
five.

Situation.—Stony Lead, South Beach,
Grey District.

Area.—Five acres.
