and seven thereof subject or not to any limitations or restrictions as he may think fit:

And whereas, His Excellency Sir James Fergusson, the then Governor of New Zealand, did, on the second day of February, one thousand eight hundred and seventy-four, with the advice and consent of the Executive Council of the Colony, delegate unto me, James Alexander Bonar, Superintendent of the Province of Westland, all the powers vested in him by "The Gold Fields Act, 1866," except the powers conferred by Sections twenty-two, forty, forty-eight, sixty, ninety-six, and one hundred and seven of said Act, to have, hold, and exercise within the said Province the said powers hereby given to me the said James Alexander Bonar, so long as I shall continue and remain Superintendent of the said Province and no longer: Provided always that copies of all rules and regulations made under the said delegation shall be forthwith transmitted to the Colonial Secretary, in order that the same may be laid before the General Assembly, in accordance with the Provisions of the one hundred and tenth Clause of the said Act:

Now therefore, I, James Alexander Bonar, Superintendent of the Province of Westland, in exercise of the powers vested in me in that behalf, do hereby give notice that on the fifteenth day of June, one thousand eight hundred and seventy-five, I intend to demise to the person named in the Schedule hereto annexed certain auriferous Crown Lands of alluvial ground for the term specified in the said Schedule.

Area—Five acres.
Term of Lease—Fifteen years.

PROCLAMATION.

WHEREAS, by the Westland "Toll Gate Ordinance, 1875," it is, among other things, enacted that it shall be lawful for the Superintendent with the advice of the Executive Council, from time to time to erect toll-gates, or bars and toll houses, upon any road or roads which the Superintendent with the advice as aforesaid, may declare to be Main Roads by Proclamation in the Provincial Government Gazette at such places as to him may seem convenient:

Now therefore, I, James Alexander Bonar, Superintendent of the Province of Westland, with the advice and consent of the Executive Council of the said Province do hereby proclaim and declare that the Roads mentioned in the annexed Schedule are Main Roads for the purpose of the aforesaid Ordinance.

Given under my hand at Hokitika this twentieth day of May, one thousand eight hundred and seventy-five.

SCHEDULE.

  1. North Road: Commencing at Ross and extending Northerly through Kanieri, Hokitika, Stafford, Goldsborough, Marsden, Greymouth and Brunner to Arnold River Bridge.

  2. Overland Road: Commencing at Sea Beach, South bank of the Arahura River, and extending Easterly along the Arahura, Teramakau, and Otira River Valleys to the West boundary of the Province of Canterbury.

  3. Maori Gully Road: Commencing at Junction of North Road at Arnold Creek and extending South-easterly to Orima Township.

  4. Maori Creek Road: Commencing at Marsden and terminating at Dunganville.

  5. Kokatahi Road: Commencing at Kanieri Township and terminating at Kokatahi Township.

  6. Blue Spur Road: Commencing at Hokitika and extending through Hau Hau to Blue Spur Township.

  7. Bowen Road: Commencing at Ross and extending through Donoghue’s to Bowen Township.

  8. Paroa Road: Commencing at Greymouth and extending Southerly to Paroa Township.

PROCLAMATION.
