PROVINCE OF WESTLAND GAZETTE.
the large provisions made on the Supplementary Estimates can only be carried out if our revenue increases to a greater extent than the Government anticipated when framing the original Estimates, and as the Estimate of receipts was framed with great care, I trust the Council will not feel disappointed, if, at their next sitting, the Government have not been able, for the cause just alluded to, to give effect in full to their wishes.
“I further regret that the deliberations of the Council should have been interrupted by the sittings of the Supreme Court, and, if the business can be sufficiently prepared, I will endeavor to call the Council together at an earlier date next year.
“Thanking you for your attendance during the session.
“I now declare the Council prorogued.
