REGULATIONS FOR THE CONDUCT OF ELECTIONS OF LOCAL SCHOOL COMMITTEES.

In pursuance and exercise of the powers and authorities in me vested by “The Westland Education Ordinance, 1874,” I, James Alexander Bonar, Superintendent of the Province of Westland, do hereby make the following regulations for the conduct of elections of Local School Committees under the said Ordinance:—

NOMINATION.

  1. The nomination of candidates must be signed by two ratepayers of the District for which the candidate is nominated, and also by the candidate himself as agreeing thereto.

  2. All nominations must be left with the Returning Officer of the District for which the candidate is nominated before four o’clock p.m. of the day to be appointed by the Superintendent by notice in the Provincial Gazette as the nomination day. The place at which such nominations are to be left shall be the place to be fixed by the Superintendent by such advertisement as aforesaid for taking the poll.

POLLING.

  1. If no more duly qualified candidates are nominated than are required from time to time to be elected, such candidates so nominated shall be considered to be duly elected; but, if more duly qualified candidates are nominated than are required to be elected...
