PROVINCE OF WESTLAND GAZETTE.
And whereas, by an instrument in writing,
dated the 2nd day of February, one thousand
eight hundred and seventy-four, and published in the New Zealand Gazette, No. 13, of
the 26th February, 1874, His Excellency the
Governor did, by and with the advice of the
Executive Council of the Colony, delegate
unto me, James Alexander Bonar, Superintendent of the Province of Westland, all the
powers vested in the Governor under or by
virtue of “The Gold Fields Act, 1866,”
except the powers conferred by Sections
eleven, twenty-two, forty, forty-eight, sixty,
ninety-six, and one hundred and seven of the
said Act, to have, hold, and exercise the
said powers hereby delegated to me within
the Province of Westland:
And whereas it is expedient that the undermentioned persons should be allowed to
collect such tolls and occupy the sites of the
ferries mentioned in the Schedules hereto
annexed, for the periods set opposite to their
respective names:
Now therefore, I, James Alexander Bonar,
Superintendent of the Province of Westland,
in exercise of the powers in that behalf
vested in and delegated to me, do hereby
notify that I have appointed the undermentioned persons to be toll collectors at the
ferries set opposite their respective names,
on the terms as stated below, and subject to
the conditions as published in the Provincial
Gazette, No. 13, of the 29th April, 1874, and
do hereby authorise the collection of the
undermentioned tolls at each of the ferries
respectively.
Given under my hand, at Hokitika,
this 21st day of May, 1874.

ARAWIIATA RIVER.
NIEL CARMICHAEL.
- The ferry to be worked by boat.
- The amount of subsidy to be £50 per
annum. - Occupation allowed of twenty-five acres
on Ferry Reserve. - Protection allowed on both sides of
the river for half a mile each way from the
point at which the boat usually starts. - Ferryman to render all assistance to
any vessel visiting the port, and to mark off
the channel with brush beacons.

annum. - Occupation allowed of twenty-five acres
on Ferry Reserve. - Protection allowed on both sides of the
river for half a mile each way from the
point at which the boat generally starts. - Ferryman to render all assistance to
vessels visiting the port, and to mark off the
channel with brush beacons.
