Double the above rates will be charged between the hours of ten o'clock at night and five in the morning.

THE attention of officers in the service of the County Government, is called to Clause 19 of “The Civil Service Regulations,” published in the County of Westland Gazette, No 7, of the 24 March, 1869.

IN pursuance of the provisions of sections eighty and eighty-one of “The Westland Waste Lands Act, 1870,” the Waste Lands Board have reserved from public sale the lands described in the Schedule hereunto annexed, to be granted in payment for public works.

SCHEDULE.

Block XXXIV. (Rural.)

TOTARA DISTRICT.

Twenty acres more or less, bounded on the north by Woolhouse road; on the west by section 1338; on the east by section 1490; and on the south by a line in continuation of the south boundary of section 1338; subject to roads, reserves, and goldworkings.

Fifty acres more or less, bounded on the north by Totara River; on the east by section 1437; on the south by Woolhouse road; and on the west by block XI (suburban); subject to roads, reserves, and goldworkings.

Forty-six acres more or less, bounded on the south by Woolhouse road; on the west by section 1295; on the north by a line in continuation of north boundary of section 1295; and on the east by Harvey's creek; subject to roads, reserves, and goldworkings.

Thirty acres more or less, bounded on the north by Woolhouse road; on the east by Harvey’s creek; on the south by boundary of block XXXIV; and on the west by a straight line to include the quantity; subject to roads, reserves, and goldworkings.

Block XXXVI. (Rural.)

TOTARA DISTRICT.

Thirty-five acres more or less, bounded on the north by suburban block LXXXVI and South Creek; on the westward by a line in continuation of west boundary of the said block; on the eastward by the Ross road; and on the southward by a line commencing at a point on the said road about two chains from edge of terrace and extending westerly to include the quantity; subject to roads, reserves, and goldworkings.

THE following Regulation of the Council of the Borough of Hokitika, has been forwarded to the Chairman of the County Council, who directs it to be notified that he does not dissent from it. It is published for general information under the 191st clause of “The Municipal Corporations Act, 1867.”

REGULATIONS OF THE BOROUGH OF HOKITIKA MADE UNDER SCHEDULE XIII, IN PURSUANCE OF SECTION 192 OF “THE MUNICIPAL CORPORATIONS ACT 1867,” THE COUNCIL OF THE BOROUGH OF HOKITIKA MAKE THE FOLLOWING PROVISION UNDER THE FIRST SUB-DIVISION OF THE TENTH PART OF SCHEDULE XIII. THAT IS TO SAY:

Passenger Vehicles.

  1. The owner of every hackney carriage or Borough stage carriage, used in plying for hire or passengers after sunset and before sunrise shall cause the same to be provided with proper carriage lights, and the driver or conductor of such carriage shall keep the same properly lighted while such carriage shall be so used, and every owner or driver offending this section shall forfeit a sum not exceeding forty shillings.

Passed by the Council of the Borough of Hokitika, this twelfth day of November, 1872.
