PROCLAMATION.

WHEREAS by "The Gold Fields Act, 1866," it is, among other things, enacted that it shall be lawful for the Governor, at any time subsequent to the proclamation of a gold field, to withdraw by Proclamation therefrom any Crown lands which he shall deem it necessary to withdraw, and that such lands shall thenceforth be dealt with, sold, occupied, and disposed of under any law or laws for the time being in force regulating the sale, occupation, or disposal of, or in any way affecting or relating to the management or dealing with the Crown lands within the Province in which such gold field is situate, in like manner in every respect as though such lands had never been comprised in any proclaimed gold field: And whereas the block of land described in the Schedule hereto forms a part of the gold field known as "The Westland Gold Field," as the same was constituted and proclaimed by the Honorable John Hall, then one of the Executive Council of the Colony, and acting under the powers mentioned and set forth in a proclamation dated on the twenty-second day of April, one thousand eight hundred and sixty-eight:
And whereas, by "The Westland Waste Lands Act, 1870," it is, among other things, enacted that the sites of towns shall from time to time be determined by the Governor, upon the recommendation of the County Council, and shall be notified by Proclamation in the County of Westland Gazette:
And whereas the said County Council, by a resolution passed on the twenty-second day of February, one thousand eight hundred and seventy-two, recommended that the block of land described in the Schedule hereto should be reserved as a township, as in the said resolution mentioned: And whereas it is expedient that the said block of land should be withdrawn from the gold field so proclaimed as aforesaid, and that the same should be proclaimed as a site for a town, as hereinafter set forth:
Now therefore, I, Sir George Ferguson Bowen, the Governor of the Colony of New Zealand, in pursuance and exercise of all powers and authorities enabling me in this behalf, do hereby withdraw the block of land particularly described in the Schedule hereto from the gold field so proclaimed and constituted as aforesaid; and in further pursuance and exercise of all such powers as aforesaid, and in accordance with the recommendation of the said County Council, do hereby determine and fix the said block of land as and to be a Site for a Town within
