SIR,—As Manager of the Totara and Jones’
Creek Amalgamated Water-Race Company, Registered, and on behalf of the said
Company, I herewith deposit the sum of
Twenty pounds as required by the Water Race
Licence Regulations, and on behalf of the said
Company, I agree, if my application (the particulars of which are hereunder set forth) be
investigated, that such sum shall in all
respects be held, subject to the terms of such
Regulations, and that upon the approval of
this application, the said Company will abide
by any conditions that may be imposed upon
them.

registered for 8 heads; No. 3, or Castello’s
race, registered for 4 heads; No. 4, or Nelson’s
race, registered for 3 heads; total 23 heads.

Distance of race.—There are four races, and
their aggregate length is about 16 miles.

Capital expended.—£15,426 2s. 4d.

Term for which license is required.—Fifteen years.

Precise locality.—No. 1, or upper race,
commencing at Donnelly’s Creek about three
miles from Ross and terminating at Swiper’s
Gully; length over five miles. No. 2, or lower
race, commencing at Donnelly’s Creek about
two and three quarter miles from Ross, and
terminating at Jones’ Creek; length under
five miles. No. 3, or Castello’s race, commencing at Donnelly’s Creek about one and
three quarter miles from Ross, and terminating in Jones’ Flat; length under five miles.
No. 4, or Nelson’s Race, commencing at the
Scandinavian Creek about three miles from
Ross, and terminating at the back of the old
Cemetery Hill; length under five miles.
