HIS Excellency the Governor has been
pleased to appoint the Gaol erected on
the Gaol Reserve, at Hokitika, in the County
of Westland, to be a place for the Execution
of Criminals under “The Execution of
Criminals Act, 1858,” instead of the Public
Gaol on Reserve 441, in the Town of Hokitika,
as appointed on the 23rd November, 1870.

IN pursuance of the power vested in me by
the regulations contained in the schedule
to the Proclamation dated the seventeenth
day of November, one thousand eight hun-
dred and sixty-nine, by the Governor in
Council, of regulations for the sale, letting,
disposal, occupation, and management of the
Waste Lands within the County of West-
land:

I, the Governor of the Colony of New
Zealand, do hereby appoint

GERHARD MÜLLER, Esq.,
to be the Chief Surveyor for the said County
of Westland, to hold such office during my
pleasure.

Given under the hand of His Excellency
Sir George Ferguson Bowen, Knight
Grand Cross of the Most Distinguished
Order of Saint Michael and Saint
George, Governor and Commander-
in-Chief in and over Her Majesty’s
Colony of New Zealand and its De-
pendencies, and Vice-Admiral of the
same; and issued at Wellington this
tenth day of January, in the year of
our Lord one thousand eight hundred
and seventy-one.
