✨ Mining Drainage Bye Law and Subscriptions

proclaimed a Mining Drainage District under the said Act.
Whereas the fifth sub-section of Section twelve of the said Act, empowereth the Board aforesaid, to impose on all lands held under any Mining Regulations and Mining Leases, such reasonable and periodical rates, as may be necessary for to prevent injury from water to any mining workings, the Jones’ Flat Mining Drainage Board, constituted under the said Act, did expend in the construction of tail-races, and other protective works within the said Drainage District, for the prevention of mining claims and leases being flooded or injured, a sum of five hundred and thirty-five pounds, eight shillings and twopence (£535 8s 2d), and for the purposes of defraying the said expenditure the Mining Drainage Board of the Jones’ Flat Mining Drainage District, do enact, that an equal rate of one penny shall be levied upon all rateable areas, within the following boundaries.
That is to say:—
On the South by line from peg 1 on bank of Donnelly’s creek to peg 2; and by line from peg 2 to peg 3. On the West by line from peg 3 to peg 10 of Drainage Area No. 1; and by line from peg 10 of the Drainage Area No. 1 to peg 5 on South side of Stewart-street. On the North by line from peg 5 on South side of Stewart-street to peg 6 on bank of Donnelly’s Creek. On the East bank of Donnelly’s Creek from peg 6 on bank of Donnelly’s Creek to peg 1 of Donnelly’s Creek, as aforesaid.
Such rate, as aforesaid, shall be due and payable to the Clerk of the said Board at his office, Aylmer-street, every alternate Tuesday, until the whole sum of £535 2s 2d, as aforesaid, be refunded.
And the said Mining Drainage Board also order and direct that the first payment as hereinbefore mentioned shall be made on Tuesday, the 19th day of July, 1870.
The undersigned Members of the Jones’ Flat Mining Drainage Board have concurred in making the foregoing Bye Law, No. 13.
