of the Teremakau-Waimea, and the Teremakau,
having a frontage of fifty chains to the latter
river, and standing back in a rectangular form,
about forty chains, and having a frontage on
the Teremakau-Waimea of about fifty chains,
to contain the required quantity, subject,
nevertheless, to the Native Reserve.

Town of Totara.

All that piece or parcel of land, containing
320 acres, more or less, situate at the Totara
River, having a frontage of sixty chains to
the beach, and extending back south-easterly
a distance of fifty-four chains, in a rectangular
block.

Given under the hand of His Excellency

PURSUANT to Section 13 of "The said
Mining Claims Drainage Act, 1868,"
I hereby publish for general information Bye
Law No. 12, of the Jones’ Flat Mining
Drainage Board, under the powers delegated
to me in that behalf by His Excellency the
Governor.

BYE LAW No. 11.

At a Meeting of the Mining Drainage
Board of the District of Jones’ Flat,
begun and holden at Ross, in the said
District, on the 31st of May, 1870, it
is enacted as follows:—

That is to say—

Whereas under an Act to provide for
"Drainage of Lands for purposes of Gold
Mining," passed on the 20th day of October,
1868, by the General Assembly of New
Zealand, and by authority of the same, the
District of Jones’ Flat was by Proclamation
on the 28th day of November, 1868, in the
County of Westland Gazette, proclaimed a
Mining Drainage Act.

Whereas under the said Act, Section 12,
Sub-section 4, power is given to the said
Mining Drainage Board aforesaid, to impose
on all such lands held for mining purposes
within the prescribed boundary of the said
Mining Drainage District, such reasonable
rates, periodical or otherwise, as shall be
necessary for the remuneration of the officers
which the Board is empowered to appoint:

Be it therefore ordered and directed by the
said Jones’ Flat Mining Drainage Board, for
the purpose of redeeming the sum of
£279 18s 4d already expended since the
proclamation of the said Mining Drainage
Board to the end of the current year. An
equal rate of one penny shall be levied upon
all rateable lands held for mining or other
purposes, and be payable to the Clerk of the
said Jones’ Flat Mining Drainage Board, at
his office, Aylmer-street, Ross, in five (5)
payments of one penny (1d.) per area, the
first payment to be made on the 8th day of
July; the second on the 13th day of July;
the third on the 22nd day of July; the
fourth on the 29th day of July; and the fifth
on the 5th day of August next, 1870.

The undersigned Members of the Jones’
Flat Mining Drainage Board have concurred
in making the foregoing Bye Law, No. 12.
