THE following tenders have been conditionally accepted for supplies to the Hokitika Hospital and the County Gaol for the quarter ending 30th June, 1869:—
I.—HOKITIKA HOSPITAL.
(1.) Groceries—Alfred Cleve.
Tea, 2s., 2s. 5d., 2s. 3d. per lb.; Sugar, 6d., 5¼d.; Coffee, fresh roasted and ground, 1s. 6d. per lb. of 16 ozs., in tins, 1s. 3d.; Flour—(Hart’s Adelaide), 10s. 6d. per 50lb. bag, 40s. per 200lb. bag; Provincial, 8s. 6d. per 50lb. bag; Rice—Carolina, 3d. per lb., Java, 4d. per lb., Patna, 3½d. per lb.; Biscuits—from 4d. per lb. upwards, according to description required; Arrowroot, 8d. per lb.; Sago (pearl), 5d. per lb.; Tapioca (genuine), 1s. per lb.; Barley (pearl), 3½d. per lb.; Oatmeal (fresh colonial), 5d. per lb.; Butter (best Wellington or Christchurch), 1s. 2d. per lb.; Potatoes, 1d. per lb.; Soap (Hobson’s Bay, No. 2), 35s. per 112 lbs., Household, 30s. per 112 lbs.; Soft, 1s. 6d. per lb.; Soda (Crystals), 2½d. per lb.; Kerosine (De Voe’s or Cousen’s), 3s. 6d. per gallon, other brands, 3s. 3d. per gallon; Candles, 1s. 1½d. per lb.; Matches, 3s. per doz.; Salt, 1¼d. per lb.; Vinegar (Champion’s best), 3s. 3d. per gallon; Pepper—White (16 ozs. to the lb.), 1s. 3d. per lb., White (in tins), 1s. per lb., Black (16 ozs. to the lb.), 1s. per lb., Black (in tins), 9d. per lb.; Mustard (full weight), 1s. per lb.; Onions, 2d. per lb.; Ham (Coey’s new cure), 1s. 6d. per lb., Sinclair’s, 1s. 4d. per lb., other brands, 1s. 3d. per lb.

THE following Regulations of the Council of the Borough of Hokitika have been forwarded to the Chairman of the County Council, who directs it to be notified that he does not dissent from them. They are published for general information, under the 191st clause of “The Municipal Corporations Act, 1867.”

REGULATIONS OF THE COUNCIL OF THE BOROUGH OF HOKITIKA MADE UNDER SCHEDULE XIII, IN PURSUANCE OF SECTION 192, OF THE MUNICIPAL CORPORATIONS ACT, 1867.
The Council of the Borough of Hokitika make the following Regulations, under the ninth subdivision of the first part of schedule thirteen: That is to say—
OBSTRUCTIONS, ETC., TO STREETS, ETC., BY CATTLE, ETC.
It shall not be lawful to drive into, or through, the Borough of Hokitika, or any part thereof, any cattle intended for sale, slaughter, or shipment, or travelling from one part of New Zealand to any other place, unless it be between the hours of seven o’clock at night and eight of the clock in the morning.
Under the first subdivision of the eighth part of schedule thirteen: That is to say—
NUISANCES OF VARIOUS KINDS.
It shall not be lawful to keep any swine within that portion of the Borough of Hokitika bounded by FitzHerbert Street on the East, the Town Belt on the North, by the Hokitika River on the South, and by the Ocean Beach on the West.
That portion of the Borough bounded on the East by Jollie Street, on the North by Weld Street, on the South by the Hokitika River, on the West by FitzHerbert Street, and in no other part of the Borough within one hundred feet of any dwelling.
