PURSUANT to Section 13 of “The Gold Mining Claims Drainage Act, 1868,”

I hereby publish, for general information,
Bye Laws Nos. 6, 7, and 8, of the Jones’s Flat Mining Drainage Board, under the powers delegated to me in that behalf by His Excellency the Governor.

JONES’S FLAT MINING DRAINAGE DISTRICT.

BYE LAW No. 6.

At a Meeting of the Mining Drainage Board of the District of Jones’s Flat,
begun and holden at Ross, in the said District, on the 21st day of September, one thousand eight hundred and sixtynine, it is enacted as follows:—

That is to say:—

Whenever the holder or holders of either a block, extended, or lease claim within any Drainage Area, and within the Drainage District as aforesaid, shall abandon such claim, all Rates which may have been levied for Drainage or other purposes, and which have not been paid, shall be, and remain a charge upon such claim, and may be sued for and recovered at any time from any such original holder or holders, or from any person or persons found next in possession of such claim:

Provided always that it shall be lawful for the said Mining Drainage Board, whenever any person or persons, not being the original holder or holders of any such abandoned claim, shall have taken possession thereof, to reduce the amount of such Drainage Rates as may then be due and unpaid to a minimum sum: Provided also that good and sufficient cause shall be shown by such person or persons so found in possession as aforesaid.

BYE LAW No. 7.

At a Meeting of the Mining Drainage Board of the District of Jones’s Flat, begun and holden at Ross, in the said District, on the 23rd day of November, one thousand eight hundred and sixtynine, it is enacted as follows:—

That is to say:—

That all the words after “efficient manner,” in the third line, of the ninth clause in Bye-Law No. 2, be struck out.
