IT is hereby notified for general information that

GEORGE WINTER

did, by letter dated the 7th August, 1869, resign the office of County Treasurer, and that his resignation has been accepted.

IT is hereby notified for general information that

HENRY HERMAN LAHMAN

has been appointed Treasurer of the County of Westland, temporarily, without salary.

PURSUANT to the provisions of "The Auctioneers Ordinance, Session III., No. 3," I hereby give notice that the undermentioned person has taken out an Auctioneer's License for the period ending 30th June, 1870:

CONRAD HOOS, Chairman of the County Council of the County of Westland, do hereby notify that I have granted protection to the Hokitika and Hau-Hau Tramway Company, under the Regulations made by the County Council, and published in the County of Westland Gazette, No. 7, of the 24th March, 1869, for their line of tramway from Hokitika to Hau-Hau, being a distance of about three miles. And also that I have authorised the collection of tolls at rates not exceeding those specified in the Schedule hereto annexed by the said Company, for the period of one year from the 1st August, 1869, provided that the Government may, if it be deemed advisable, construct a road which may cross the tramway or run parallel to the same for a distance of one mile, without being liable to pay compensation to the Company.

The protection to date from 1st August, 1869.

Given under my hand, at Hokitika, this twelfth day of August, one thousand eight hundred and sixty-nine.
