The Council of the Borough of Greymouth

make the following Regulations: That is
to say—

That the fees payable under the above-mentioned Bye-law shall be as follows—

  1. On all sailing vessels, foreign, inter-colonial, or coastwise from ports beyond the limits comprised between Cape Farewell and Milford Sound, one shilling per ton register per trip.

  2. On all coasting steamers, including those coming from ports within the above boundaries, threepence per ton per trip.

  3. On all intercolonial steamers, when coming to the wharf, one shilling per ton per trip.

  4. On all lighters trading to the offing, or on all tug-boats bringing in cargo from vessels in the offing, eightpence per ton measurement for all cargo carried to the wharf.

  5. On all tug-steamers, a charge of threepence per ton on the registered tonnage of all vessels towed in by them.

  6. A charge upon all steamers bringing in or taking out passengers to or from the roadstead, at the rate of fourpence per each passenger.

  7. The captain, master, or other person in command of every ship, steamer, or other vessel mentioned or referred to in the above Regulations, numbered one to six, shall, upon demand by the Collector of Tonnage Dues, or other the proper officer appointed by the Council for that purpose, or within twenty-four hours after such demand, and before discharging any part of the cargo contained or carried in such ship, steamer, or other vessel, deliver to such Collector or other officer as aforesaid a certificate of the registered tonnage of such ship, vessel, or steamer, and which certificate shall, if required, be verified by declaration to be made by such captain, master, or other person in charge, before a Justice of the Peace.
