Alexander Diamant, Esq.,
has been appointed Clerk to the Jones’s Flat Mining Drainage Board, under the provisions of “The Gold Mining Claims Drainage Act, 1868.”

THE following Bye-law and Regulations of the Council of the Borough of Greymouth have been forwarded to the Chairman of the County Council, who directs it to be notified that he does not dissent from them. They are published for general information, under the 191st clause of “The Municipal Corporations Act, 1867.”

BYE-LAW NUMBER TWO OF THE COUNCIL OF THE BOROUGH OF GREYMOUTH,

MADE UNDER AND IN PURSUANCE OF CLAUSE 186 OF PART THIRTEEN OF “THE MUNICIPAL CORPORATIONS ACT, 1867.”

The Council of the Borough of Greymouth ordains as follows:—

First. That this Bye-law shall apply only to such wharves, jetties, piers, or quays as belong to and are under the sole management and control of the Council of the Borough of Greymouth.

Second. The word “Vessels,” for the purpose of this Bye-law, shall mean all sailing vessels, steamers, lighters, and steam-tugs entering the River Grey.

Third. It shall be lawful for the Council, from time to time, to make Regulations for all or any of the following purposes: That is to say—

1st. For appointing the tonnage rates and tolls to be paid in respect of any vessel loading or unloading, or refitting from or at any such wharf, pier, jetty, or quay, or in any other manner making use thereof for such purposes as aforesaid.

2nd. Every person offending contrary to any Regulation made under this Bye-law shall forfeit, on conviction, a sum not exceeding five pounds.

Passed by the said Council this the sixth day of April, in the year of our Lord one thousand eight hundred and sixty-nine.

MADE UNDER BYE-LAW NO. 2, OF THE COUNCIL OF THE BOROUGH OF GREYMOUTH, IN PURSUANCE OF BYE-LAW NO. 2, MADE UNDER SECTION NO. 186 OF “THE MUNICIPAL CORPORATIONS ACT, 1867.”

Errata.—In the County of Westland Gazette, of the 22nd May, 1869, No. 11, in the 7th line of the appointment of J. R. Ryley, Esq., F.R.C.S., Edin, for “Keeper” read “Medical Officer;” and in the fifth line of the appointment following the above, for “Duncan” read “Dunbar.”
