HOKITIKA, SATURDAY, APRIL 11, 1868.
WHEREAS, by a Proclamation issued by His Excellency the Governor, dated the twenty-ninth day of February, 1868, and published in the New Zealand Gazette, Number 13, dated the 3rd March, 1868, it was ordered that the parcels of land described in Schedule No. 1, hereto annexed, should be sold, and that the time, place, and conditions of the said sale should be fixed by the Waste Lands Board of the County of Westland, and should be published in the County of Westland Gazette.
It is hereby notified that on Thursday, the 23rd instant, an Auction Sale will be held at the Land Office, Hokitika, of the undermentioned Lots of Land, numbered from 1 to 15 consecutively, being parts of the Officers’ Quarters Reserves, 448 and 449 Gibson’s Quay.
The sale will commence at 12 noon.
Every lot will be put up separately at the upset price mentioned in Schedule No. 2, hereto annexed, and will be sold to the highest bidder. Every bid will be an advance of 10 per cent. on the previous bid, and will be declared by the Chairman of the Waste Lands Board, who will act as auctioneer. The money is to be paid immediately on the fall of the hammer, and no cheques will be received.
At the end of the Auction Sale Lot 16, containing 2 roods, will be offered to the present occupier, and in case of his declining to purchase, will be put up to auction at the upset price of £30.
After the sale of the Officers’ Quarters Reserves, the undermentioned lots, numbered from 17 to 28 consecutively, being parts of the Temporary Gaol Reserve, 438, Hamilton Street, will be offered to the present occupiers at the prices mentioned in the schedule annexed. And if any such occupier decline to purchase, or if having elected to purchase he fail to pay the purchase money to the County Paymaster before noon on Tuesday, the 28th instant, the lot offered to such occupier will be forthwith put up to auction without any value for improvements at the price mentioned in schedule No. 3, annexed.
SCHEDULE No. 1.
Description of Reserve No. 438.
Three roods ten perches, more or less, situated in the Town of Hokitika, having three chains frontage to Tancred Street, and extending back westerly at right angles a depth of two hundred and forty links on the north boundary, and three hundred links on the south boundary, being bounded on the West by a straight line three hundred and six links, and on the South by Hamilton Street.
Description of Reserve No. 449.
Two acres, more or less, situated in the Town of Hokitika, commencing at a point two chains sixty links from Gibson’s Quay, and fronting on Jollie Street for a distance of four chains, thence at a right angle, and fronting on Weld Street five chains, thence again at a right angle, and fronting on Hoffman Street three chains fifty links, thence at a right angle one chain, and from thence in a line a distance of four chains to the commencing point to include the quantity, being bounded on the eastward by the residences of the Resident Magistrate and Chief Surveyor.
Description of Reserve No. 448.
Two acres one rood twenty-two perches, more or less, situated in the Town of Hokitika, being bounded on the North by Weld Street, on the East by Livingstone Street, on the South by Gibson’s Quay, and on the West by Hoffman Street.
